'07 S-Class Reliability/Quality To-Date?
Owned S550LE for 6wks and 600 mis, and found it absolutely glitch-free and impeccably finished. Traded it in @100% resale value (apparently lim options availability has created strong resale value for LE's in near-term)....and looking forward to getting a June build S65 (w/almost certainly far worse resale value
)....
Mercedes did it right this time. Kudos. This car has more engineering in it than any other car I have seen or owned. Always a true joy to drive.
I can't wait for Jack's detailed report on how the car was on his cross country trip.
There is a problem, that you probably will never encounter, but here, in Russia, we are dealing with it quite often.
It relates to bad gasoline, which is a common thing in Russia. New mercedes engines (V8 5.5 and V6 3.5 - those found in S 550 and in S350 and CLS) are much more sensitive to bad gasoline, than their predecessors V8 5.0 and V6 3.2. And on a top of it, now you can't simply clean sprayers (it's about $100) , like it it was before, now you have to replace the whole block which costs about 2000 Euros for W221 S500 (S550 in US) , and is not covered by warranty. I wonder why Mercedes did this set up?

The new S Class however is perhaps still the most safest vehicle in the world and even safer than the previous S Classes before it.

Well that was just one car and that probably was a dealer abused vehicle, I've seen much worse especially at autoshows and the like. The lack of complaints here and at other MB boards is really encouraging.
