ABC versus 4MATIC

while Active Body Control (ABC) is generally perceived as being a must have, 4MATIC equipped S Classes will not be able to have it. Which do you think is a better option, in terms of driveability?

4-Matic, because I live in the North Suburbs of Chicago, and we frequently take trips up to the Northwoods of Wisconsin, year round. The S already handles better than most cars on the road today, so I think that if we went with one we could live without it.

If you're going to be driving the car in snowy road conditions get the 4-Matic, otherwise go with ABC.

Wet Conditions? ABC? 4matic?

I would like to know if one or the other is preferable in wet/rainy climates relative to hydroplaning. Anybody have an *educated* guess?

Since we haven't seen the new 4matic from MB that's all we can get right now.

Personally, if I do go with the S550, I am getting the ABC and not 4matic.

If I wanted AWD, I'd go with the Audi. Why choose MB when Audi has devoted itself and developed AWD through both motorsports and research for more than 2 decades?

For me, the ABC would give me more driving pleasure and the opportunity to enjoy the car in a variety of circumstances behind the wheel. The ABC Sport setting works well in my SL when I select it.

As for the question on hydroplaning, no system in the world is going to save the driver if the car is already hydroplaning. It's the physics: hydroplaning means that the tires' contact patches have lost touch with the road surface and are skimming on the water on top of the road surface. Tires is the biggest consideration for preventing hydroplaning, especially factors such as tire pressure and tread depth.
