Help...phone shuts off after 30 secs!

Hi All,
My treo 650 pairs up fine but after 30 seconds the bluetooth adapter shuts off. The phone has the latest firmware. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Is it possible that the phone bt setting is set to 'find me' or 'discoverable' only, and not set to permanently on?

the guy who runs treocentral.com posted here awhile back and he indicated that both the 650 and 700 works. Try changing some or your BT settings or do a hard reset to start fresh

W221-S550
I have a Treo 650 and it pairs up fine with my S550. When I get in the car, the S550 finds the phone automatically and "activates" it. thereafter, yes the BT interface "shut off" in the sense that the blue ligts are off. But I still can receive call. When i get a call, my Treo rings and then it "wakes up" the BT interface and the call is now routed to the S550 and I can use the S550 to talk hands free. I can even use the car keypad during the car keypad during the call for any button actuated options. After the call is over, I use the rotary dial to hang up. When i want to make a call, I HAVE to use my TREo to dial out. The car keypad does not work. However, once the call is dialed on the Treo keypad, it will be routed via the BT interface and the call is now on the S550 and I use it as a hands free unit. No, I cannot transfer my address book from my Treo to the S550.
I have now shared EVERYTHING I know about the Treo and S550. What are your tips on this issue

The 650 is not a certified phone for use with the MB Bluetooth system. In fact, it's not certified by any other manufacturer either. It's not a bad phone, it's just the way Treo implements it's Bluetooth.

Several people have posted that the Treo 700 works okay but it's not MB certified either.

It you need the 650 for work, and you want to stay MB certified, swap out the Bluetooth interface in your S with an MB cradle and certified handset (put the new hanset on your family plan). Then, just leave the new handset in the cradle so it's always charged and connected to the external antenna. Set the 650 to forward calls to the number of the car handset "when not available". When you're driving, just turn the Treo off and take/make the forwarded calls with your MB hands-free "car phone".

We use this same technique to take advantage of the Onstar personal calling feature when we're driving our truck. Hope I explained it clearly but it works great.

I was just ready to post this solution. Some time ago I had this same discussion on my '06 S430 phone setup. I added a V557 Moto and the cradle to the car and forward calls to my other phone..a RAZR (at the time the RAZR was not working with the system.) It works perfectly and I never have to remove the one from the car and I always have the RAZR on my hip. Costs only $9.95 to add the second line.

Now all I need is the phone/voice kit installed in the 550 to get it working. Hopefully the kit will be here soon.

Yeah J...I had it in my S430 and used it all the time. I am getting a little anxious about when the kit will arrive. Greg is on watch for me and since they come in for specific VIN's, I just have to wait in line I guess.

Kits are just starting to flow out to dealers. If you're in a hurry, remember that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Ask your dealer to call that guy listed on the Netstar message regarding the retrofit. He should have his Dealer code and your VIN handy and use the words "hot case".

Thanks...he has me on the hot list so to speak and is even trying to get one where the customer is not really interested in it sent to me. But so far no luck...they have sold over 150 S550's and the demand is pretty strong.

The other factor is that since they are paying MB for the kits and then charging list when they make the warranty claim with labor to MB, they have to "sell" my kit to my local dealer at cost so he can do the same thing.

Paperwork rules...:-)

I was just able to pair up my Treo 700W and was able to import contacts 1 by 1 through Blue tooth. If anyone needs help importing in contacts, let me know. Everything is working as advertised on my end.

First, you have to pair through the phone.. and pair with the car. Goto the vehicle settings and i think blue tooth is in there somewhere... you will have to pair up the phone with the car as well.
