Dealer and Netstar

I already have a S550 on order for August delivery . However, my cousin is now looking to get an S550. He called a delaer in PA who said he has one with the color and options he wants for a week of July 4th delivery. He had also contacted another PA dealer who states there is no such car available with those options. Then a 3rd dealer said all the S550 with those options coming are spoken for and therefore, sold already so the 1st guy must be lying!

Now all 3 dealers claim to be using the Netstar system and all 3 are authorized MB dealers not leasing or used car dealer.

How is this possible? All 3 are known to be reputable dealers but obviously one claims the other is lying and could not possibly have the the car coming in since netstar does not have that particular car to be deliverd the month of july in that geopgraphic zone at all or even anything close to that car. In addition, the guy with the car coming in July is willin gto discount the car 2-3K which the other 2 dealers state is not possible on a brand new 2007 s550.

The first guy may not be lying, when they search netstar there are 3 designations for a particular car - Sold- Open- Not available. So if the other dealers found the car and it said sold, that doesn't mean its "actually" sold. Dealers will say a car is sold when in fact it isn't, or it has a deal pending.
If you have a good relationship with the first guy stick with him , and as to discounts the other dealers may not want to discount the S550 but you can find one who will, they all pay the same for each car! Its not impossible and its up to each dealer!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. its hard to believe even in the $100K range of cars that games will still be played.
