Since you already have a emblem on the top of the grille, why would you want another one just like it a few inches away on the hood? I think the TriStar ornament looks good on the S.

Again, personal taste. I think it looks much more sporty and exotic without the star sticking up.

Then it wouldn't be an S class any more. Would you ask the local decorator to repaint the ceiling on the Sistine Chapel? The S class is not meant to look 'sporty' or 'exotic'. Just about everyone is doing that look. It is tawdry, common and cheap. The best saloon car in the world is meant to look refined, elegant, majestic, stately, grand, opulent, luxurious and swish but not like a sports car.
Having the 3 pointed star on the front of your bonnet is one of the very best things about owning a Merc saloon/sedan. If you want a Merc without, buy a CL coupe, a CLS or a CLK, or a Mercedes sports car but the saloons/sedans get the 3 pointer and long may that remain so.

KKilo,
If you don't like the hood ornament, why get an MB that came with one.

Come on now.

Lorinser has a grille for the S550 coming

The car must not have Distronic Plus to fit this grille. Pic shows full Lorinser front end. The grille is supposed to retail for around $1000.00 Chrome finish only. You will also have to buy a Laurel badge to replace the hole left by the Star. The Laurel badge from a dealer is about $40.00.

We will have the Lorinser grille's available when they begin distributing them in the USA. Release dates from Lorinser are not always set in stone but we should have them available by Septemer.

Thank you, our Performance Manager here, Michael Marsillio can order for you.
