Navigation System Question
Input restrictions
The input restrictions are imposed starting
at a particular vehicle speed. The restrictions
are canceled as soon as the speed
drops below a certain value.
When the restriction is active, certain operations
or entries are not possible.
You will notice this by the fact that some
menu items cannot be selected or certain
operations will not be possible.
If this is the case I hope that the speed is not set to low. To me it makes a navigation system almost useless when in motion if I have to pull over or stop to use key functions like new destination or closets whatever. I know it is an safety issue, but the 550 has voice recognition and you don't have to take your eyes of the road to use the navi plus if you have a passenger they should be able to do the navigating. Almost all cars with navigation systems limit your use while driving so it is not unusual. The only one that does not is Acura and I have not heard of any problems with safety or Acura being sued because someone's attention was diverted while using a Navi.

Also, BMW does not have any restrictions, just FYI. =)
Has anyone ran into these input restrictions?

Now I don't doubt that might be in the manual, and since S550 has not been delivered yet I can not test it, but I sure hope they did not do that. My current vehicle has no such restriction and I love it!.

Alpine’s VPA-B211A VehicleHub Interface Adapter can connect your factory video screen to iPod, Satellite Radio, Navigation, or even 5.1 multi-channel music from DVD. And the best part is you don’t need to alter the factory functionality. The only problem is I don't think they have they interface for the S550 yet.
