Why...what do you want to spoil? A "spoiler" does nothing for the new S...just look at the natural lines of the trunk lid.

High speed stability!! Although it would look a little weird on the S-Class. It's too long for a trunk spoiler. Shorter cars like the E and C look good with it.

High speed stability? At 4400 pounds plus, ABC and 9 1/2" tires, what stability are you talking about? It tops out at a limited 130mph and is about as stable a car as you will find anywhere. What effect is some cosmetic piece of plastic going to do for "stability" on an S550?

As you say it would look weird on the S and does on those mods that have installed it.

In cornering if you don't want the rear end to slide or anything, then the rear spoiler will press it down giving it traction. Although the S is very heavy, and I doubt anyone will be doing any of that in an S550 at least.

Even if it's limited at 130, that limiter can be taken off, and 380-something horsepower is more than enough to get to 200 mph.

Looks like a Lorinser body kit and wheels. Maybe the lip spoiler is from Lorinser as well.

It does absolutely nothing for the car. It ruins the flow of the the rear deck. Look at the spoiler, S550 logo, MB logo and chrome strip and how it just stop the eye from flowing from the curved trunk lid to the rear bumper.

Compare the original...

I agree, that's why I said it looks better on cars such as the E, C, CLS, SLK, CLK, and etc.

Hi 6thGenSmoke,

We offer the decklid spoilers from A_R_T Tuning and Brabus which aren't as aggressive as the Lorinser spoiler. These brands are more subtle and they compliment the original lines with more of a clean look. Kronen Tuning is the Northern California authorized dealer and service center for Brabus and A_R_T Tuning. Contact me if you have any questions. Hope you enjoy them.

Maybe to the few, that like the shape of the S class overall, but not the rear, a deck spoiler may ease the look.

To the rest of us, I think Mercedes has the rear looking just nice the way it is. The car looks the best if you are driving behind one, rather than looking at one that is sitting right in front of you. I know this for sure, because I made my wife drive one day while I followed her. I just had to check out the lines. ( of the car that is...)
