Jumping the Gun!!!

Hi Everyone!

I have a weird question. You know how the when the W220 came out - we were all amazed..... and we couldnt imagine how things could get better....

Now, the W221 is out - and we are all Loving it! And it seems SOOOO perfect, and energetic with such a GREAT presence on the road.

Anyone have ANY idea how MB can possibly make it better, or drastically different for the W222 ?

Further, what kind of facelifting would possibly improve the styling? It cant possibly be something as simple as a better clear headlight or tailight....

Bradley

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lane-departure/blind-spot warning system added at some point. A solar-powered fan would be nice too; Audi has one in the A8.

I couldn't begin to guess on the styling, though; the W221 took me by surprise.

I dearly miss the Solar Panel roof in my E55. That by far was the one feature that I used all the time, regardless of weather conditions.

Right now, is has the best presence in any crowd.

Better to wait a few years, and then as the W221 starts showing signs of age, we as owners could come up with a few ideas.

I like your idea of a lane-departure/blind spot warning system. Smart suggestion.

It is already on the way... MB will have it on US spec C216 CL600s.

wouldn't mind an active noise cancelling sound system, I believe audi has them. Could make the car even quiter than it already is.

Kevine310, Honda was the 1st I believe to have active noise cancelling.

Its standard in the Accord Hybrid, Acura RL, and new MDX, and possibly the Odyssey minivan in certain trim. Not sure if I have it.

I think the S-Class already it with the W220. I'm not sure if it was as advanced as the Honda's.

They called it Vehicle Noise Compensation.

WOW, didn't know Honda had it.

Anyway, the noise cancelling "simply" identifies external noise and makes new sound waves in addition to the music you're listening that "cancels" the noise without affecting the intended audio.

If it was on the W220, it should have migrated, unless they reduced the niose so much in the W221 that it's become redundant.

Are you referring to the W220 or the noise cancelling technology?

The W220 seems to have it, but I don't think it's very advanced. The technology is actually very good. BOSE is one of the leading developers, and it reduces noise drastically, even if you don't have music playing. Log onto the bose website and look at those noise-cancelling headphones. Get one for Christmas, it'll be worth the money, LOL.

In any event, the W221 sounds very quiet on the inside.
Now if only it came with anti traffic missles.....

Option code U52 (or was it U12) will detect other people's anti traffic missiles. It was installed on the Presidential W211.

How MB can possibly make it better?

Very minor point but I wish they would make the quick lane changing turn signal a 5 count instead of a 3 count. It just shuts off too fast! Mags

I agree. In light traffic I'll use the quick lane change signal. But if it's any heavier than that I tap the stalk all the way.
