thanks for all the compliments!!! I am so happy I held out and waited for my color. At one point I almost considered any color they would give!!! I had sold my beloved previous S and was truck'in (Ford Excursion) it for 5-6 months and was just S-Class sick!

INTERIOR- back in the day (over 20 years ago) the classic MB combo was Navy w/ a Palomino interior. The Capri/Cashmere combo is ultra classic!!! It looks and feels stunning. Ultra luxurios... However, keepin it clean is a mother. My previous S had a charcoal interior and man was that forgiving.

NOTE- I have a 28 month old bad boy named "Paco" who is Merc Crazy!!! He owns a DUB SL remote control car, a 2007 S scale model etc.... He will sit in the driver's seat and rock every switch in the car. Therefore, Cashmere interior is a nightmare...

You have to go with the cashmere interior on blue, and IMO I like it with every color (except silver) and black/black

Different for sure... more agressive, more feedback. It's hard to describe but overall it's better. BTW- The Pilots are super hot as well. Love the Pilots over the Contis.

Love the color combo! I'm sure it looks awesome at night due to the paint flip-flopping between black and blue.

I have lived with the 20's for a week now and am digging them hard!!! Down here you see all kinds of S-class mods... some are abortions and some are hot. What I like about my setup is the purist approach. IMO- it just looks clean & elegant. BTW- I have seen the style VI that I posted last week on a new CL and they awesome... real modern & slick yet with the AMG hand.

Thanks Brother!!! Yeah, i wanted the Pano & Multicontour options but this was the second car over a 2 year span... I had a car on order for over 2 years (#4 in line at my local dealer) and the only non negotiable options were Capri Blue & AMG pack. My car arrived last May without AMG.

All things considered I am beyond satisfied with the car. It is the finest car on the road at any price. Don't miss the options I don't have except for the S65 option. Yes, thats right! I have S65 fever!!!!

yea the S550 is probably the best car for the money...very comfortable in the front and back..the S65's seats are amazing, they wrap and hold your body in the seat and kind of makes you feel more secure or in place ...another thing I noticed when I sat in a 600 with pano roof was that you could(i think I saw a button that seemed to be for it), by the press of a button, electronically slide a cover over the rear half of the pano roof at the rear passangers' convenience...but you guys probably all know this already...I'm just impressed with my first time up close with the new S's...maybe once SL's gone (august 08) I'll go get a S550 4-matic or used S65 ...and once my 98 ML(with only 135k miles) dies out I can go get once of those beastly GL's...oh the possibilities

any how...enjoy the great car and keep it shinning haha

Be careful with all that washing or you may start getting swirls, even on the new crystal ceramic clearcoat. I use top-of-the-line baby soft microfiber towels and a microfiber mitt to avoid that. I normally wash once a week.

You're right, cleaning a dark car is a pain! My last S500 was black and I went with Flint Grey on my S550 just to get a break for a couple of years ... lol ... though I just washed it a few days ago and a damn sprinkler in a parking lot hit it so now I must wash again.

Got 2 coats of Zaino on mine ... did that asap when I got the car and use Z6 after each and every wash ... love it!

Total Washing Sickness!!! and it's gotten worse since I first posted.I did try the leaf blower trick for drying to reduce cloth contact... worked like a charm. Just keep the intake high and away from any dirt or you can shoot debris at your car.

I think after this one I will return to the Silvers or greys... so much easier to keep clean.

BTW- I can't use Z2... it just won't come off!!! I have tried it twice and the same thing happens... It just streaks!!! The residue comes & buffs off after a couple of Zaino washes.

Are you guys sure about that stuff??? Miss my old Zymol Titanium Carnuba Wax. I will say it beads like nothing else.

For the Z2, after I buff it off by hand with microfiber towels, I use a Porter-Cable orbital polisher with a microfiber bonnet on low speed and go over the entire car with that (dampen the bonnet with Z6 spray and put a new one on about halfway through). This gets rid of the annoying Z2 streaking. This was a must with my black car. As much as I love Zaino, their marketing claims that it "practically falls off" are totally false!!! (and make sure you give it several hours to dry, not the 30 mins that Zaino claims.)

And yes, the car does look better a wash or two after Z2. After buffing off the Z2 the car is a dust magnet due to the residue. I've also found their Z8 spray to be a dust magnet too. I love the Z6 spray though, an application after each wash really makes the car look great. Dilute it 50/50 first with distilled water though, otherwise it will streak on a dark car.

Reelestates and others

Hello,

I think you received your 20" wheel package from Tire Rack, I went to their website and noticed that the amg wheel style you have is the 221, which comes in 19" or 20", there is also a 5 219 that is 19". Do you know the difference between the two and did you consider going with the 19"? Was it the size or the look you wanted more?

On the Mercedes-AMG site they only show your style in 20".

I like this style better than what comes with the sport package so I am wondering if 19" would give the same look.

Thanks

My car came w/ the AMG 19" at the top of this thread... After receiving my car I definitely wanted a 20 or 21 AMG upgrade. I only went with this style because it is the only AMG 20" in the US right now. Many other styles will be here in a few months...

brad: that picture of your silver s550 at the end of all your entries is stunning! just had to tell you that. there is just something about that shot that every time i read one of your entries here i smile; it looks so freaking good!

reelestates: that capri blue colour is brilliant - and the right interiour/ exteriour colour combo as well! i had a 94 s class (140 body) that was midnight blue with palomino and always loved that look. this 'new' capri blue isn't as deep (dark) as the old midnight blue but looks very very good. i'm thinking when i get the 221 it's gonna have to be the same colour combo as yours. well done!
