New to MBWorld
Hello fellow MBWorld members. Just picked up my new 07 S550 last Sunday. Had it special ordered. Took around 3 months to arrive.
Details:
1. Andorite Grey Metallic
2. Grey/Dark Gray Premium Leather
3. AMG Sport Package
4. Pano Roof
5. Parktronic
6. P2 Package
7. Auto truck closer
This is my fifth MB and second S class. So far I am impressed even though it is at the dealer today to see why the MP# player will not work and the CDs will not unload
My wife drives a 2004 E320 Wagon with every whistle and bell they offered in 2004. My first question to the forum in general. I am selling the E320 and looking for a replacement. So far my choices are:
1. GL450
2. GX470
3. LX470
My wife likes the versatility the wagon offered but wants a true 6-7 passenger kid hauler. Any thoughts, recommendations, warnings etc are welcomed.

GL450 = SUV of the year, truly something...I like the agressive look and quality interior of the GL450...Lexus > Merc in quality and maybe some other things...but I'd still get the GL over the LX (gx is too small to be in the same group)

I would get the GL....if third row seat room is a big selling point for you, you should look at the LR3 HSE7 (in america all HSE's for 07 will be rear seat cars so the 7 is redundant). It has the best thrid row IMO.
P.S. The lexus third rows are HORRIBLE. When you are not using them, you cannot fold them into the floor thus taking up a lot of space and they are a pain to set up, and takin in/out.

Thanks for the input. I agree with the Lexus comments. What are your thoughts on LR LR3 HSE? I looked at them today and was somewhat impressed.

Well, as I pointed out in another thread, according to JD Power, Merc only has 15% more reported problems than Lexus. It's the Lexus marketing machine hype that has convinced the public otherwise, i.e. that it's more like 150% instead of 15%.

as far as the replacement goes, depending on how soon you need to replace your wife's E class you should wait until the new LX comes out before you make a decision. its suppose to be out some time next year but i dont know if that would be too long for you. im not really sure how it looks like but you might like it and what it has to offer.
IMO the current LX looks better than the GL
