Distronic PLUS
I am thinking about getting an S550. One of the features I am curious about is the Distronic PLUS. I don't think my local dealer has any cars with it that I could test. I have the adaptive cruise control in my LS430, and I use it all the time on the interstate, but I am not totally happy with it. Its operation leaves something to be desired, like the car not speeding up rapidly enough after the vehicle in front of you moves out of the way, and not being very smooth in operation, especially when acceleration is called for. I would appreciate comments from those of you who are familiar with the operation of Distronic PLUS. How pleased with it are you? Is it smooth in operation?

2007 S550
It works extremely well. It's especially nice in stop and go traffic, as well as in regular highway driving. I got it because I stopped using cruise control on my last car due to frequenly having to brake. With Distronic Plus it takes care of everything on its own and it's pretty amazing too. You can leave it on for the whole trip and let it "autopilot" the car. Well worth the extra $$$.
