Anyway, best of luck and enjoy the GL in the very best of health. At this rate you’ll be buying Greg another home.

Jack. You broke my heart. You broke my heart. You’re nothing to me now; not a brother, not a friend. I don’t want to know you, or what you do.
Thought you would enjoy that Godfather II shtick!
BTW, I can relate to early retirement. My old man retired at 38 from NYC employment and went on to retire again at 58 from NY/NJ Port Authority employment - and I’m semi retired at fifty! I’m certain you’ll agree; there’s more to life than working.
Anyway, best of luck and enjoy the GL in the very best of health. At this rate you’ll be buying Greg another home.![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Thanks for the good wishes!
Yeah...I was an early retiree. We figured quality of life was more important than staying in the race for bigger and greater things. But in the end it all worked out great and we had 18 years together doing things we wanted to do before my partner took her final walk two years ago.
It must be getting close to you getting with Greg and turning in the CLS...I know he has a good S550 deal waiting for you...:-) Hoping to see another note on the windshield when I take delivery of the GL like you sent on the S.

My brother and his wife have a GL450 and we have an ML320 CDI. The GL is very comfortable and if you can get past the rather plain exterior, it really is a wonderful vehicle. The CDI drivetrain on our ML is wonderful to drive. I imagine the GL320 CDI will be a wonderful road trip car, not to mention you can haul stuff you would never dream of fitting in the S-Class.

Hi Jack,
After reading your description of the GL450 , I had to go try tonight. It really does drive great. Has good power and I dont know if you noticed, but it has a nice growl (similar to the S600) to the exhaust which I like. Also drives quiet. Certainly not as smooth or quiet or luxurious as the S600, but much better than any other SUV I have ever had. Certainly much nicer than the Denali.
Anyway, my new GL500 Black should be ready for pickup on Tuesday!!. It has package 1, rear seat entertainment, parktronic, that really cool electric tailgate and a few others. Its missing the rearview camera though that I really like on the 600. It also does not have distronic.
Thanks!

I agree with you on the choice of wood steering wheel over the butt warmers. Good luck with the new ride.

Jack, congrats on your choice. I am looking forward to the photos that you will be posting in the future. We certainly have employment in common. I retired from the army with 20 years and I am currently working for the treasury department. Haven't thought too much about a final retirement yet. I suppose I will get into that in due time.

Virtually all Rs sold here in Switzerland are short based ones: they have a sportier attitude consistent with the European driving style. And they fit in our parking spaces.
And by the way, I am enjoying your posts enormously, Nevada Jack, and your wonderful photos as well.

Congratulations on the GL500. They only have the GL450 here or the diesel. I am glad you found the ride as you did...I was impressed also. Certainly not a ABC S Class ride but extremely comfortable and quiet. I ordered everything but the RSE, hitch and heated seats...should be here in April.
It is the GL450 of course and I may get it tommorow. My wife hates me now and wants one. I ended up with the Black/grey and it has P1, Heating package, sunroof, Hitch, camera, Ipod.
Globe In NJ stocks a few of them.
Best of luck with yours and congratulations.

My mistake on the 500 part.. Unless its that new 600HP twin turbo model.. No such thing as far as I know.

I have an S65, which I love.
I also have had a GL450 for 8 months. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable. I don't like driving it at all. There are a lot of things I don't like about the GL, but I would try keeping the S550 and getting some other SUV for traveling around in....
I'm selling my GL450 and getting and ML63 so that I can have those AMG seats. The GL is too big for me anyway.

No...the only seat adustments are the 8 way and then also you can get the Multi-contour package that adjusts the seat/lumbar and side bosters which is not the same as the full S Class package. No dynamic action on the side bolsters as you enter a turn, etc.
