S65 with a Brabus T65 upgrade... the car has gone bye bye since the pics were taken... some lucky ******* is doing 200 down I-480 in it.

Try the Brabus website www.brabus.com select Mercedes vehicles and English

Here are the "twins" done by TAG Motorsports for Hoehn Mercedes Benz in Carlsbad, CA.

Both cars are lowered, have 21" Monoblock E's, Brabus Decklid spoilers and a few other brabus goodies....

The black one is still for sale in the Hoehn showroom i believe...

What do you think?

Can someone please answer this?

I am looking to put the Brabus 20" Monoblock VI's on my 2008 S550 (w/AMG sports pak)

But... I DON'T want to lower the car and I don't want to slap on the 21"-ers - don't want the ride to be too rough.

1) Will that work? I mean can I just swap out the 19"-ers that come with the car and put on the 20"-ers?

2) Has anyone done this exact same thing?

3) How is the ride performance effected?

Go for it! The 20" will look great on the car without any modifications. The sidewall decrease is so small going from 19 to 20" that it is not a concern. Make sure to use quality tires as that effects the ride more than anything. I prefer Michelin or Pirelli.

I'm trying to decide whether going from the stock AMG 19" rims to Brabus 20" Monoblocks will work for me ....... I'm mainly concerned about the talk of lowering the car.

Basically, if I'm fine with current gap between the tire and wheel well (w/the stock 19" AMG's), does increasing to a 20" rim actually increase the gap between the tire and wheel well or is it only illusionary? If the gap is infact increased, why is it so? Doesn't the overall wheel circumference have to stay the same even when the tire sidewall decreases?

Problem w/open-style wheels (of any size) w/550 or 600 is that such wheels merely accentuate/advertise how puny are those girlie brakes...and how cheap-looking are 550/600 brake calipers, which one can't distinguish from those of a venerable C300.....

Suspect a frugal poseur is better served by just buying S65, V12 Biturbo, and AMG badges to slap onto a deep-discounted S550....most clueless observors would never know the difference; and more car-oriented observors will always mock aftermkt, rapper-wannabe cars anyway.....

Or just get a new S65 if want to actually enjoy driving a highly-engineered perf limo....

AustinGuy, don't be so offended,
WSH, in his and other opinions is just pointing out the obvious, aftermarket shops are destroying/distorting perfectly developed and balanced cars. Imagine R&D time + money that was spent to accomplish this. Now picture some guy with CNC machine and photoshop try to create pimp machine ... What is amazing ... that he almost always accomplishes it/finds a customer.
I will not be affended by your response , after all it's still a free Country.

Thats why Brembo make 14", 15" and 16" brake kits for the S-Class.

They make the AMG stuff look tiny.

I was not offended at all ....

Just wondering what WSH was referring to and who he was responding to.

BTW - I agree with you - I can't imagine how some people totally pimp out their 100k cars..... JMO but I really don't think 22" Chrome rims look good on ultra luxury cars esp. ones like MB, BMW, etc.

Austinguy, I would go with the chromed ones. 20".

Are you getting them staggered or standard?? Those would look hot in staggered form.
How much are they? I'm getting an itch to do another mod.

You are telling me to go Chrome? Have you read post #38?

I'm looking at the Brabus MB VI's - working with WheelExperts.com on a price quote....

I read it but forgot it. I don't think just chroming the wheels is pimping especially if you stay at or under 20" wheels ( I don't like pimping out a car either). I just saw both wheels on the earlier post #28 and assumed that meant to make a choice on which to go with.

What color is your S class??

Mine is a Obsidian black with Savanna-Cashmere interior (P3+AMG+wood steering+iPod kit).

What I posted on #28 is the "Brabus MB VI" (single on left and 2-piece on right)

What I want now is the "MB VI forged 3-piece" because of the inner lip that it "seems" to have.... below on the left (although I can't tell if there is a difference betw. that and the 1-piece on post #28 )

I have a few questions as I like those also:
How much do they cost and can a Mercedes star center piece be placed in the center of the wheel where the Brabus emblem is located? I would definitely go with staggered wheels and I know you don't want the chromed ones but I'm leaning towards the chrome (little liberal for me but it's better than getting a tattoo)

Which one's the original?

Okay, okay, that's easy.... the one with the "B" on the wheel cap, duh! .

But wait, one's $200, the other is about $2800!!

Mario,

I would be extremely careful with the "knock off" brabus wheels. After spending $100,000 on a car, the quality, fit and finish is not there with the knock offs compared to the Authentic Brabus wheels...

Also, many of the knock off wheels, look "similar" but in reality, they are very different once put next to each other.

That particular picture you have, the wheel is not a multi-piece wheel. Also, i do not know how strong they are, or how the finish will hold up. More importantly, TPMS compatibility?

Alex,

I agree - I would NEVER buy a knock-off.

I'm just stunned at how close the "discounttire.com Replica" is! It's actually quite funny that most would not be able to tell the diff. at least from looking on line.

BTW - I'm looking at a quote from progressiveautosports in Houston on the 20" MB E's. His includes rims with vredestein sessenta tires.... He says that those tires are #1..
