The prices on the 2006's were $115K for the S55 and $129K for the S600. These are not directly comparable with W221 pricing but if anything the spread should increase. The reason: S600s are now marketed as "including all available options." This will not be the case for the S63.

They are aimed at different buyers. The S600 is more luxurious. You pay for upgraded leather, wood, alcantara, etc. that is not included on any V-8 model. (It is on the S65.) You also get all the trick technology, some of which will remain optional on the S63. Radar-guided cruise control is not something that every AMG driver will use .

I think you can look at the spread between the E550 and E63 and figure out where the S63 will be priced.

On the other hand, if you don't need a large rear seat a Maserati Quattroporte might be worth a look. No one else builds an eight like the Italians. The 2007 with a conventional automatic should be available soon. Certainly far from a perfect car, but has an excellent personality.

You are saying that the S63 ($128K+) will be above S550 and Below S600 for a price point?

I would think the S63 would place above a S600 and below a S65 at around $150K.

Thoughts..?
.............even with all the AMG trinklets the S63 is a NA V8 engine. It will not be more expensive than a twin turbo V12. It is already going to be difficult for MB to sell the S63's. If they really want to screw up, they should price the S63 above the S600.
