Smell Problem
we also have a 98 e-class w210 and the climatecontrol has a button for a charcoal filter, when this button is activated you wont be able to smell any truck's exhaust fumes or bad smell in the car at all.
now with the w221 this button does not exist anymore
(even the w211 still has it), and whenever we're in the city driving behind a truck i get this exhaust fumes smell inside the car, which is really driving me nuts.
I went to mercedes and they told me the new s class has a sensor for this, and whenever the smell gets too much the filter gets activated by itself.
i find this ridiculous, since it doesnt seem to work or the sensor takes too long until the filter gets activated.
and actually in the w210 I activated the filter all the time so i never had to deal with that kind of issue.
And mercedes told me they checked the car and there is nothing NOT working. So everything is supposed to work properly.
HMMMM... so what can I do...since this is really driving me crazy,
driving a 100k car while my comfort is being compromised heavily by the smell of the others exhast fumes.
Any Ideas guys??
THX A LOT
So far I haven't had a problem, now and then a really bad diesel blowing smoke will get through and when that happens I just hit the recirc button.
And yes, as soon as a truck, bus or smoke blowing car gets in front of me I quickly hit that recirculating button as well.
Even in my 2005 S, I still needed to hit that recirc button to prevent truck fumes from getting through.
