What is the point of this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...QQcmdZViewItem

S600 with AMG badging, AMG exhausts and AMG brakes..etc

Wouldn't all that mindless upgrading surpass or equal to the price of a new and authentic S65 AMG??

Nah! It's an S600 but the guy went to outrageous lengths retrofitting the brakes and the body kit! Look at the engine bay.

Yeah, I think it's brilliant -- very hot, except for the fact he felt the need to put S65/AMG/BiTurbo badges on it. Why could it just be a S600 with an AMG Bodykit on it? Are people so vain that they need to give it the final "S65 AMG" badge to seem top of the line -- is an S600 w/AMG Body kit not enough?

I agree

120k would be a sweet deal and having the V12/quad exhaust/S65 body kit and brakes would be enough to sway me from an S63.
It's a shame that it doesn't have the cashmere interior and I'm sure those 22's aren't comforting on a long drive.

To tell you the truth, just being a 600 should be enough (of course I would say that ) But its true, any real MB person would know by looking at the Exhaust system and the badging on the interior is probably missing also.

Does the S65 have different interior badging than the S600?

I remember seeing this ad a week ago. I thought it looked really nice, but I never made note of the S65 badge.

It's missing the AMG dash cluster as well as the emblem on the front seats.

Actually the S600/S65 on eBay has the quad exhaust but it is missing a few key interior components.

Yup all AMG stuff is badged everywhere, and of course the engine is a dead giveaway

I would have deleted the rear spoilers and the 65 badge. I would take the rest of the updates though and end up with an an s600 amg. the flank "biturbo" badges aren't misrepresentation anyway.

This S600 however is missing even some of [what i thought were] standard 600 interior fare, such as the 10 vertical pipings on the seats (ala designo) and v12 badges on the backrests, as well as the ruffled leather section on the doors. This interior looks like a "mere" 550.

I was told that can be changed with a little programming.

The S65 doesnt have the same interior options as a S600 though. The S600 has more options than the S65 does. Also for 40k less the S600 is a better buy imho.

That was the same reason I bought the S600 instead of ordering an S65. All the ones that I found did not have all the options.

The only thing I still need to change is the programming (going to RennTech in a few weeks) and the brakes (not sure which brake kit to get.)

I didn't think the S65 looks that different from an S550 sport. I was planning on changing the wheels anyway, so buying an S600 was a better deal and I get everything the way I wanted it.

The S600 seats look the same as the S550, but the CL600 seats get the vertical piping like in the designo editions. The S600 seats also get the active comfort headrests which are not available on the S550. The other interior upgrades over the S550 are the exclusive leather treament covering everything where plastic would be in a 550, the alcantara headliner, and the extra wood trim on the doors, standard wood steering wheel, and wood cover for the telephone number pad.
