W221 vs. Audi A8 Leather Seating

W221 vs. Audi A8 Leather Seating
My dad and I went to a local auto show recently, and I noticed something quite interesting.
The Audi A8 (with its Daytona leather??) doesn't really feel like leather per say, when you sit in it - it feels more like suede (which felt awesome, btw). On the other hand, the Benz feels more traditionally like leather, albeit softer, firmer cushion materials, etc.
Why is that?
[By the way, the Audi was a A8L W12, and the W221 was a S600 (fully loaded)]
