Storage compartment?

2007 S600
Storage compartment?
I purchased a 2007 S600 six months ago. After purchasing it, I started noticing that on the 550 that they have two buttons on each side of the center console area (where the phone cradle is at) as opposed to only one button on each side in the 600. What does that extra button do on a 550? Does the 550 have a deeper level of storage space that a 600 doesn't have? If so, what's with that? I've never had a chance to investigate a 550 on the lot other than peering through the window as the doors were locked and the dealership was closed. My curiosity has me now.

I too have one button - if you have the rear seat climate control you loose the compartment under the phone (shallow top one), guess there are more electronics in there.

Ahh, thanks guys. That has been a mystery to me for quite a while now. Knowing that now, I would opt for the extra storage space as I'm constantly having to turn off the rear fan (which is usually left on high) after my kids have been playing around with it in the non-auto mode. 
Of course, that is not an option on the 600

The bottom one is not "just" a compartment it is a cooler/refrigerator as well.
this is what you have to give up if you opt for back ac controls. However I like the illuminated controls on the back, It makes the interior more complete. I guess you can't have it all. Regards!
