air conditioned seats working or not.? s550.

quick question for you guy's, when i press the blue buttons for the seat coolers in my 07 S550, i feel it, but it is VERY light, if i have slacks and a fairly starched oxford on, it is tough to really tell if it is working or not.My wife drives a 07 escalade, when i press her seat coolers, there is NO question that it is on, as i quickley become frozen ( lol )... anyone else have this problem. thanks.

The ventilation in MB seats is very subtle. It's certainly not air conditioning. As little as I use it, I'd use it a lot less if it really chilled the boys.

I find it most useful on cold days, in conjunction with the butt warmer. It cuts the sharpness of the seat heater a tad, like tossing water on the sauna.

Yep it works but its very subtle as mentioned.
Sit on the seat bare *** and you will feel it for sure.

Most other cars (that have it) are much better with the cooled seats.

Just noticed you have the 06 model. Im just about positive that the 07's are a bit better with the cooled seats. And some may actually like the boys chilled. Not frozen but chilled.

Only Lincoln and Cadillac have true A/C seats that actually have cold plate technology in them. MB seats just have fans. Thats why they are called "ventilated seats" in the MB.

The fans in the '07 seats are indeed subtle as has been suggested. I live in LA and it has been fairly humid the last few days. My seat fans work very well and I coud not tell they were on EXCEPT that when I get out of the car my clothes don't stick to me. Even with air conditioning on in my other vehicles (and the CL), shirt or pants would be somewhat damp. Now that's subtle but that is how they were intended to work per my Rep. Hope this helps.

I have to agree that the "ventilated seats" are as subtle as can be...i live in Fresno where it was about 98 today and will continue to climb for the next couple of months... i really cannot tell the difference when i push that blue button on... sucks to be me...

Not to , but I agree that the seats are just "ventilated," not cooled. They do seem to keep my clothes from sticking to me, and that's about all I'm looking for. The ventilating fans do a great job of taking the edge off the very effective heaters - which is, pardon the pun, very cool.

srice, that beating the dead horse thingie had me rolling on the floor, thanks!

Same goes for my my ventilated seats; the less clothes you have on, the more you feel it and conversely. Now that Kar Don has mentioned the "true A/C seats" on Lincolns and Cadillacs, I want to check those out.

They are definitely subtle, but the other day when a passenger moved to the back seat (not ventilated) she said the seat felt hot in comparison. BTW, the Lexus seats are genuinely cooled. Not reason enough to drive one, though.

AFAIK Lexus seats are only ventilated. I tried it on the ES, IS, and GS... fans only. Haven't tried the LS460, so I am not sure about that one.

Musikmann, next time you travel just rent a Lincoln MKZ or Cadillac DTS, everyone of them I have gotten has A/C seats and I love it!

Ac

Weird, I have an 08 S63 and my wife has an 07 Escalade.
I have the exact same opinion - the Escalade seat AC i awesome and I can barely feel the AC in the 63's seat? I was thinking it wasn't working right, but maybe that is just the way it is?

Yup, 07 Escalade has true A/C seats. They feel so nice in this so cal heat!!

Cadillac has a snow flake with a seat on the button, Lincoln says A/C on the button with a seat, and MB has a seat with a fan on it. That pretty much explains it!
