But yes, Just as you said, it starts at around 45 mph or so and then its a ride in a washing machine.
That is absolutely crazy, I hope they reimbursed you for the cost of those wheels and tires?

Well here goes the comical end of it. After changing bushings and bearings then finally changing the drive shaft after I insisted the the MB tech suggested, They finally called me and said the car was ready. They gave me a list of all that was changed and said they could do no more. I drove it and the vibration was finally gone. For some reason they didn't want to acknowledge that it was the drive shaft. Until today they will not say the vibration went away after the drive shaft was replaced.
I was just happy to have my car running right.

I guarantee where you're located they have the "Lemon Law" and I bet if you do some research you'll see that you might just have a case.

Just a quick update that they replaced the two front bushings and now the car rides excellent at all speeds.. the service advisor said the bushings where weak and there was a service bulletin for some '07 550's..

I'm very happy now..

2011 S550 fails to start

I have a 2011 S550. I know for sure it sat for weeks without use prior to buying it from the dealer. Prior leaser reported "hard starting".

I have a recurring "dead battery" like failure where the car won't start. Dealer has been good, but baffled. The main battery, starter, alternator, regulator, and several modules have been changed.

When the dealer gives it back with a good charge, its weeks before it has the issue, then it fails to start 3-4 times a week. Jump it, drive it, starts for a few times, then fails again.

This past time, the car was dead. Turn the key fob, no dash board, and very few clicks. When the roadside tech connected the portable jump cables, the car fired right up like there was no battery issue at all.

No one knows what to do.

Any ideas? Anyone know if the battery control module might cause this? Other component that on command to start could be shorting the battery?

Thanks.

Starter battery is likely the culprit (the small battery under the hood) if the alternator has been changed recently.

The starter battery tests OK but I'm trying to get the dealer to change it anyway. Under warranty and the don't want to shot gun it.

Thanks.

The fact that it cranked immediately when the jumper cables were applied sounds like a loose battery terminal connection to me. That's the only thing that stands out.

Thanks. The dealer still has it so I sent him a note to verify both sets of battery cables and the batery control module. Of course he said they already checked them. I'll verify myself when I get it back.
