S320 CDI Long Version

Hi everyone.

I'm new in this forum and would like to join this "S Class group".

I have a S320 CDI, blue tanzanit, with camel interior. I did not chose the S500 (or S550...) because in the contry I live in it costs 215.026 USD, standard.... and the 320 CDI is cheaper, 156.000 USD, standar as well.

As options, the car has:

-Confort headrests;
-Pre safe seats;
-Multicontorn front seats;
-Powerd rear seats;
-DVD player;
-Powered rear sunshades;
-Rear seat entertainement package;
-TV tunner;
-Aditional light package;
-Cell-phone Universus interface;
-Parcktronic;
-Rear camera;
-Trunk adtional security;
-Active bi-xenon lights;
-Automatic doors;
-Keyless-Go;
-18" wheels
-And more I don't remeber...... sorry.

I have some pics:

I hope you enjoy..... and sorry for the pics quality.....

I'll put some more photos...

Great looking car. How's the gas mileage on it? Assuming you've driven it.

Don't want to tell where you are from? Looks like EU license plate. Denmark would have high car tax but the view does not look like that. Is it Greece?

Which Pre Safe seats option do you refer? I believe Pre Safe seats are part of Multicontour seats, not an independent option.

A nice place, I did not know you had that high car tax or something equivalent.

We have a similar pricing, somehow feels still different from driving an S600 even if that is what we paid.

I guess you've already experienced something burning in the car? The W221 was my first car with a particulate filter and I did not first realise the smell a few times when parking was from filter regeneration that has been just activated before parking. Also the tranny program on your car may have been changed, the early ones stop down shifting while regenerating the filter, made me first believe there is something wrong with the car.

Enjoy the ride and (relatively) low fuel consumption

Yes the taxes are extremly high here in Portugal. I know the S600 is better, but here it is just to expensive and the petrol too. Diesel is cheaper. The car burns 9l/100km's.

No problems with the car. Everything is ok.

This is the problem with the Bluetec. It is kinder to the environment but harsher to your wallet. I have the last of the common rail diesels and it does not "regernerate" and gives the same economy without the hassles. Furthermore the Bluetec engine has 4 filters (a pre-cat, 2 cats, 1 particulate filter). Did you find out the replacement costs for all the 4 filters? Typically they need to be replaced when the car is worth the least. The AdBlue system when introduced will be even worse. If you do not service your car the computer will cut power by 50%. At least that was the proposal by the EPA.

It is amazing how tree-hugging radicals in California can dictate to Europeans, Asians and Africans what to drive.

Why, the point was if the car was not serviced, must mainly mean it was driven without the adblue stuff. In this case 80% power reduction would not be an issue, you would just need to be able to drive to a place where you can add adblue, and this should never happen.

I understood the adblue car would not need exhaust recirculation, that would be great to avoid air intake intake pipes from clogging. Perhaps I remember this wrong.

How is the power on the diesel engine? I had the 190D years ago but that was before these engines really got well refined.

The power is quite similar to the S350 engine. The onl diferrence is that the S320 CDI is a 3.0 with 235hp (and it's diesel) and he S350 is a 3.5 with 275hp (I think...).

S350 actually has 200 kW or 272 PS. But it would be better to refer to the performance figures because the peak power of the CDI doesn't tell everything.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h figures are 7.5 s for the CDI and 7.3 for the gasser. Both have limited 250 km/h top speed.
