Maseratti Quattroporte???
I just got my copy of Car&Driver or Motor Trend (can't remember which), and the Maseratti Quattroporte, introduced in 2004, came in 1st place over Mercedes 550 at 2nd place which we all know came in 2007!!! I can't understand how they can say this when for the past 2 years all I've read in these same magazines is how great and superiour the S class is. I say "no freaking way!". That has got to be the worst comparo result I've seen that magazine do. They placed the Jag in 3rd place and the Lexus 460 in 4th place amongst the 4 cars tested.

also has horrible iterior ergonomics and electronics. it looks like a buick (dont know if i spelled that correctly!!)

2013 SL 550 (Previously 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo-S, 2015 Tesla P85D, 2007 S600, 2005 E55 AMG)
One of the most irrational reviews I have read for some time.
Having pretty much awarded first place to the S550 with "The Mercedes-Benz S550 is arguably the best car here by all objective measures." they award first place to the Maserati just because it feels good... even after "We all know this car will drive its owner crazy reaching for a CD changer mounted below the steering column, waiting forever for the nav system to calculate a route, cranking the engine three times as long as in any other car to start, listening to a squeak in the driver’s should belt, etc."
Not to deny that there is a major element of emotion in any car selection... (Unless you love Consumer Reports) I think the Masserati looks great also... but in aggregate when all factors are taken into consideration it is hardly in the same league as the S550. And I would hardly want to live with one for several years on my own $$$. (Which of course car reviewers do not)
At least they had the sense to send the LS600h to well deserved oblivion in 4th place... (It should not have even been in this review to begin with as it targets the S600)

My dad had his heart set on a maseratti..(i dont know its an italian thing i guess) and he went to dealer near our house on three separate occasions (when the dealership was supposed to be opened) and it was closed..on the third and final trip he turns around..goes to the mercedes dealership in princeton and buys the S550 on the spot..good call dad much better choice in my opinion..
