No, in Malaysia, the thing with cars like BMW and Mercedes is that you cannot really customize your oder. You buy an S300L and there are no options. You want the options, you have to buy the S350L. If you want night vision and distronic plus, you must get the S350L SEL. These are all available CKD and of course they have the ability to include them in the S300L but for business reasons they chose not to. Such has been the case for decades.

BMW on the other hand, while similar, at least equips their flagship 7-series pretty well. On the lower end, if you want a 3-series, like the 320i but don't want to pay the road tax of the 325i, you can get a 320i SE which has all the extras as you'd get from a 325i.

So yes, such is the sad state of things in Malaysia. Singapore is totally different, since the cars are CBU I believe many options are available, if you are willing to wait.

What I hear is that if you must insist on an option and you are willing to buy a CBU, through connections in Daimler Malaysia and BMW Malaysia, you can still get it. Then also there are always parallel importers.

Canada has the S450 4Matic which is the short wheel base....it starts at $108,000. For reference, the S550 4Matic (long wheel base) starts at $123,000 and there isn't a non 4Matic version of either.

Personally...I think I like the swb version - a little smaller for manoeuverability and I like the lines better.
