2007 S550
New Owner Questions
Hi,
I just picked up the last 2007 S550 4MATIC (new) a few weeks ago. Used to drive a 2001 740iL and 2004 XJ8. The S550 is very good and the wife is happy. Two questions please.
1. Does the car come with a "Vehicle Tool Kit"? The manual describes it, but I couldn't find it in the storage space in the trunk.
2. How do I find the "Built Date"?

Believe the tool kit is placed inside the spare tire area (below the trunk floor)....first aid kit is also either placed there...or in the stg compartment under the front passgr seat....
Build date is on the VIN plate located on inside of driver's door/door frame....
Will be curious re: your impressions of 4Matic, presumably w/all-season tires, on Chic winter roads, esp emergent braking/handling....many back East joke that all-season tires are really "no season" tires, even w/AWD.....

The first aid kit would be in the box at the front of the front passenger seat.
The manual also has figures showing the vehicle tool kit.
US cars used to have the mini-spare, it would be different depending on this, the Euro manual describes all options as in the attached figure.

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.
Not much snow since I got the S550, so I can't really judge the performance of the 4Matic. The handling/braking is pretty good, but not as good (or fun) as the 740iL. However, the S550 did real well one day on the toll way when the wind was blowing at 35 miles/hour. Very stable and quiet, much better than the XJ8 that I traded in.
