Never saw those buttons. Very Nice. Just received my updated manual with instructions for Blind Spot Assist and Parking Assistance and its not in there. Guess they'll have to do another revision.

Too bad you didn't get the *** in the middle. I'm sure the kids could enter a NAV destination faster than anyone sitting in the front can!

2007 S 600 / '06 911 Porsche C4S cab
Chris, et al...
Don't let those negatives bring you down. There's always something that's not perfect. The S 600 ( and 550's for that matter) are such amazing cars that you have to be thankful you have one. All you have to do is get into another car, to realize just how fantastic your car really is.
So suck it up and pick up those lost papers, push the button to close the trunk and have a nice day!

Oh 100% agreed! These are not really negatives... they are exceedingly minor quirks that I posted for fun as much as anything else!

Ah ha... I just spotted my missing gym membership card tucked away by the seat belt socket in that picture.. it must have slid down the side cushion. See it works - thanks for prompting me to take that picture!
If I am not mistaken my 92 200TE has this as well!! And I believe so did my dads and moms Mercs except for the SLK.

1. THe sunroof does not one touch close, so you have to drive with your finger on the button for 15 seconds till it closes, same with roof blinds.

2. If the person your trying to put in the trunk, gets thier fingers free they can press the trunk opening button and escape.

3. IPOD doesn't work through command, only through steering wheel controls

Likes

1. The real time traffic updates

2. The boot tidy nets , keep stuff quite secure.

3. The ambient lighting, pretty useless but it does make the interior more comforting at night.

As far as point #1, that is aggravating because I always have to close it right when I'm passing someone coming towards me (either in a car or on foot)..... I always think that they think I'm shooting them a bird with my finger while I'm pushing up on the button..

As far as #2, use zip cords ,....they can't get away with that

The Trunk hook ??!! I never knew what it was for. Thanx guys. Even dealer didnt know.

O yeah...seat gap was eliminated on my 2008.

I have the 2008 W221.

DISLIKES:

1- real traffic updeate - it sucks. never tells me right info. It has been 2% correct.

2- no cooled/heated cup holders (some $15,000 dodge cars have that)

3- ipod controls on the steering wheel

4- no way to adjust seat belt hight manually

5- Harman Kardon sound system really really bad (not loud enogh). Speaker grills make noise with loud base.

6- NO DVD play option while driving (if navigation is ok to control while driving WHY not watch DVD)

7- no built in Bluetooth ($100,000 car with no bluetooth - its a joke - $15,000 dodge or ford has it built in)

8- its a joke to pay additional $600 for the bluetooth module

9- Night view assist is a joke (completely usless). It would have been useful if you wouldnt have to put headlights on.

10- no blind spot assist (yes I know it only comes with dynamic cruise control - $100,000 should have that built in)

11- Rear reverse camera should be on standard on every W221 model - not as an option - $15,000 dodge or ford has it built in

12- heated steering wheel with Wood Trim - the worst combo even. Only leather part heats up. Wood part cold as a steel. Very little leather and placed in a wrong spot. Really bad mix. Why bothering offering them together

13- REST climate option doesnt really work very well in really cold temperatures

14- side mirrors should be a little bigger. I dont see anybody in a blind spot as well as other cars I have.

15- only one cigarette lighter adapter in the front.

LIKES:

1- control navigation while moving

2- powerful, comfortable, good brakes

3- White W221 looks like hot sexy girl walking by you

4- able to control passenger seat from driver side

Why allow use on navi while driving?? Its even worst because you have to type the directions and move the wheel and get your eyes off the road.

It doesnt make any sense.

I guess you should vote differently next time to get the related laws changed. At least cannot complain MB, perhaps you didn't.

Anyway the navi map display is considered distracting but since it is considered a necessary driving aid, the use is allowed. Watching video isn't essential at all, makes no sense to compare these two.

In the US I thought you were not allowed to "dial" the address while driving?

On a W221 video could be shown in motion when the display is fully turned towards the passenger. Unfortunately laws do not allow even this.

I'm not sure if there is a U.S. law prohibiting "dialing" an address while driving. I do know that Toyota/Lexus don't allow you to do anything with the nav unless you're in Park or something like that...

OK, I certainly don't know US laws but I remember Nevada Jack reporting that his S did not allow entering the address while driving, except through the voice control system.

Euro cars do allow addresses entered while driving. It could be just a liability issue, not necessarily forced by the law.

2007 S600
I live in the US and my 2007 S600 does allow for address entry while on the fly, my 2006 CL500 did, my 2004 VW Phaeton allowed it , and my 2002 CL500 allowed it.
This must be a recent change in progress because my wife's new C350 DOES NOT allow address entry on the fly. If this is true, then that is going to be a bad thing to have to pull over everytime you want to add an entry.

Same for me - my '04 E55 allowed it, the '08 S63 does as does my wifes '08 E350

If it works for you on an '08 car, I must remember incorrectly the S550 case. Looks like the US car is the same as the Euro one then.
