"Scent"
I would give anything to not have the "musty" or stagnant water smell when I switch to the AC from vent. In Wisconsin I switch often, due to changing climate. Any thoughts about why this "stuffy" smell is there? Thanks.

Leather Wonder Wafers have worked best for me and I've tried a bunch of stuff. Two under the seats and people say WOW your car smells great
BTW big LOL at the box of crayons comment. Had five in the family and true, true!

I have the Crayon smell. It's developed over time. Especially when it's parked up for a while. It's not the cabin filter. Not the leather. I suspect the floor mats or worse the carpet deadening. Anyone figure this one out?

My car is 10 years old and it still looks and smells like it just rolled off the assembly line. No leather conditioners or smell enhancers at all. I'm guessing it's because of the Napa leather swathing the entire interior and the Alcantara suede headliner. Plus it's never been smoked in. In fact, it smells 100x nicer than the new Benzes with the MB Tex, which reek to high hell IMO.

Toss your mats, shampoo the carpets....making sure to leave the car out in the hot sun to dry, then install Maxpider liners. I leave my liners in year round as they don't look nearly as brutal as Weathertechs. They also can never slide around due to the material used on the bottom of the mats which hold them firmly in place. And your feet will not slip around on them when your shoes are wet. Much cheaper than Weathertechs too.

The Lexol three-in-one restorer (grey bottle) smells great, and like fresh leather, and is excellent on the seats, and no residue. Really softens leather (worked on my w140 seats) and keeps the w221s seats excellent.
The smell is excellent.
