Quite Tyres ?
I have just taken delivery of my S500L (S550).I have the AMG Kit and the 20" wheels, they are shod with Conti Contact Sport 2, they don't seem to bad for noise. As i have nothing to compare the different tyres, i was wondering if any one has an opinion on any other make.

I think they suck. They have horrible grip and are rock hard. They are pretty quiet, but there are betters out there. Check out Bridgestone's or Michelin's. I am a huge fan of Michelin PS2's. Treadwear on the Michelins sucks but they grip very well and are pretty quiet.

Difficult for any individual cust to have a well-informed view re: which tire brand is best vs a given model....too many variables in tire perf vs different car chassis set-ups....and trade-offs of grip/precision/comfort/treadlife/wet vs dry, etc etc....
AMG seems to use 20" Conti SC2, Pirellis and Yokos on its CL/S63s...
Have Conti CS2 on my CL63....seem like good tires after 8K+ mis...
Have a jaded colleague who drove his first CL63 030 w/Conti CS2s for 3K mis before trade-in; now has another CL63 030 w/Yokos...after 1K mis in varying conds, he reports tires seem roughly similar....
I tend to think diffces btwn various tire brands used by AMG for S/CL63 are rather minor....lots of minor trade-offs and placebo effects...and variation of perf/tread-life due to mfg variation...and varying micro/macro-damage/decay vs tires/wheels used on typical suboptimal public urban pavement....
