20' AMG wheels under s450?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a set of 20" s65 wheels/tires and putting them under my '08 s450 4matic (AMG PKG). Would it be an easy swap or are there modifications required? Any pro's/con's on doing such?

Its not as easy as it would mess up your tire pressure sensors. you would have to buy new tire pressure sensors as well

You can do it. Shouldn't be a problem. Its been done many times before. Just dont expect to roll around in those puppies in snow/ice.

I don't think you can put 20' on 4 matics.

I remember reading about it, but they were talking about W220, i think principle is same with w221 as well...

IMO 20> are good only for quality roads, otherwise ride will be harsh and firm..

Yes, sort of

20" wheels should be fine, as long as they are not staggered (i.e., front and rear rims are the same width). You should also be able to transfer the TPMS sensors from off your old rims. And if the new rims have summer tires, you won't want to use them in cold or snowy weather.

You'll also need to drive carefully, as tis very easy to bubble tires with that low of a profile (especially with a heavy car like ours).

what do you think if put on back wheels wider rims than in front? is it not dangerous for 4matic?

not a good idea with 4matic

I am told that it will drive the system insane as it senses different traction levels between wheels with wide and narrow tires. A very bad idea. Take your cue from Mercedes; they will not installed staggered rim widths on 4matic.
