Thinking of trading my 07 S600 for the new C63 !

+1. I agree. Even though all of the comments on this thread are very constructive and have points that are worth considering, I don't think so far anyone has said anything "wrong" about the situation....just excellent points to ponder from both sides of the coin. The bottom line is for Rider to be happy. It may not make sense to some of us but it makes sense to him. That's what counts on an issue like this. I've done things in the past on car trades that to some are really crazy to some people , but for me, at that time, it made sense.
I'm just glad that he is staying within the MB family. I just know that as a fellow S600 owner and as much as I like the C class (my wife drives one), I could never step down to a car that small for my needs and desires.

The result is in my garage........
2008 CL63 ...... but I can only go 155mph
Exterior color: Flint Grey...doesn't sound all that appealing but I think it looks nice and it's different from the usual black or silver MBZ
Interior: Black with dark burl walnut.
Traded the S600 in on it of course
Once again I want to thank all of the great replies and I especially liked and took to heart "markopolo" 's BigMac vs. Luger's steak

I don't know that I'd call it Macdonalds v. Peter Luger, but the cars are very different. My wife wouldn't trade her C55 for my S65 as daily driver for anything. On the other hand, she wouldn't dream of taking her car on a long trip, like the 400 miles to LA or the 1,000 to Seattle. In the S you can drive for hours and get out feeling refreshed. A long drive in the C55 is harder on the body, and all indications are the C63 is even more so.
When I drive her car, it's a bit more nimble of course, but any V8 seems so noisy and crude after the V12. You realize that the turbine-like balance of the 600/65 engines contribute a lot to the driving experience and is an integral part of a flavor I'd hate to lose.

To be candid, exclusively drove new CLs (replaced every 6-12mos) for several yrs until I did a 2yr "sabbatical" and drove various new F/P's.....won't claim to be an expert driver....but my 2yr stint provided me tremendous new-found appreciation for the overall perf/safety/daily-useability of a new AMG S/CL (or 600) over any alleged sportscar/supercar/whatever...and it was convenient that the launch of the new-gen S-Class in early '06 was such a brilliant success in terms of innovation, dynamics and safety, juxtaposed w/quality and reliability....
I almost never drive more than 75mis from SF/BH (my ADD (and common sense) prevents such nonsense), but I discern many of the dynamic attributes of any car within 10mis of even mundane suburban driving....
BTW, don't know about others...but I typically only have one car in my garage....it functions as both my daily commuter car and my wkend twisties fun car.....I'm astonished periodically when I test-drive someone's new car/car at a dealer/rental car when I travel, etc.....most humans quickly take for granted what they enjoy daily, until they try something else....and I'm even more astonished when I realize how obviously inept and mockable are most $150K+ latest/greatest F/P, etc, even on a brief drive on interesting rds, even w/a mediocre (but jaded) amateur driver....

Need to get CL63 030 for the cooler (and some 4lb-each lighter) wheels, cf interior trim and 186MPH top speed....
Agree...silver/blk and blk/blk are more common in SF/BH/Greenwich...though I saw a flint/blk CL63 030 last wk in SF PM commute traffic headed up the hills from FinDt to PacHts....looked (and sounded) great

Contrats!! Much better choice. You would have gotten tired of the smaller car. I have made that mistake before. Once you get used to driving the big comfortable car, you never want to go back to smaller ones. It just costs lots more to make them go as fast. Where can you drive that fast any way? other than on a track. There is always too much traffic or someone watching.
