From the press release, it appears that if you already have the iPod integration system installed, the cradle should function in the current (MY 07-08) W221 S Class.
"The cradle connects to the audio system either via the optionally available Media Interface or the retrofittable iPod®Interface Kit available from the range of genuine accessories. Both variants use an integral adapter lead that has to be installed by a specialist workshop, ensuring an ideal connection between the cradle and the Media Interface or iPod® Interface."
I called my service department, however not surprisingly, they had no idea what I was talking about. If anybody has further information, I'm sure we'd all appreciate the update!
UPDATE:
Finally got through to a customer service representative at Wireless4MB and they informed me that they are aware of the cradle and expect to carry it shortly, however they are not clear as to whether the cradle will only fit the 1st generation iPhone, or if a new cradle will be released for the 3G iPhone as well. Seeing as how the press release arrived shortly after the 3G announcement, I'd imagine that the new iPhone will be supported. Wireless4MB expects to have more information within the next week or two as the iPhone release draws near. Hope this helps!

MBWorld Fanatic!
That's the Euro version. Their UHI system is not the same as our MHI. I suspect MB is working on an MHI version, but that unit won't work in North America.

As mentioned earlier, Wireless4MB does anticipate carrying a US-spec cradle, so it's just a matter of time before we have all the details...

Update
Just spoke with Wireless4MB which informed me that the iPhone cradle will be released in August in the US, however price and part number have not been made available. Unfortunately, the cradle will only be compatible with the first generation iPhone for now, with an update for the 3G iPhone to follow several months later...
