Besides the module you buy from midcity, has anyone found any codes or engineering access capability to override the dvd shutdown while driving? I have a 2008 S550.

as far as i know, not for the new S or any other platform going forward. Mercedes has locked those features down specifically. I asked the midcity guys about this before (because they also do programming on the command) and they said that they could find any coding that set the video cutoff point, even hidden coding.

So to answer your question, no it looks like the module is the only way.

There is way to o it but you need Star dignostic tool

I did change the setting with Star dignostic tool in Korea.

Almost every S class does that. Dealer will not do it for you since it is illegal.

It was illegal too in Korea. But some Audio shop bought the star digonostic tool, and they did it in 3 min.

Just plug the tool, change the setting, then that's it.

Now I have US version s550. I want to have the unlock but nobody has that tool in US except dealer.

Anybody have the tool?

funny thing in Korea, We have TV called DMV (digital multimedia V...)
We can see the live TV in the car while dring 100 mph.
This system also need unlock.

doesnt work.. I have tried using the SDS machine on both a 221 and my W204 and there is no setting for unrestricted video. On my 204 there was nothing to change at all. On the W221 you could only choose between video in park, video under 3 km/h or no video.

Like I said, I wish there was an easy way to do it like before but not anymore.

its really easy to both install and use. They are local and install them for our dealership and we havent had any problems. You basically press the mute button for 2 seconds to enable video in motion and press it again to disable it. If you go to their site (midcityengineering.com) they have videos up too that show how it works.
