Resetting the service indicator

I purchased a new 2008 S550 this past Saturday. The car had been sitting on the dealer's lot since February. Consequently the service indicator says Service A is necessary in 77 days even though the car only has 250 miles on it.

So, should I simply reset the service indicator?

Should I replace the mobile 1 and then reset the service indicator?

In any event, the owners manual says to contact the dealer or MB for instructions on how to do this if maintenance isn't done at an MB dealer. Anyone have the scoop on how to get this done? I'd rather not have to explain all this to a service writer.

Thanks,

Neil

The dealer should have reset at the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). Reset:

need help

has anyone else tried this? It doesn't work for me. I have an '08 S550.

Question: The first step says "turn key in ignition lock into position 1", and I have the push button start. Any help?

The car is 'on', but not started. But when I press 'accept phone call' and the 'ok' button (at the same time) for more than 3 seconds, nothing happens.

PLEASE HELP A FELLOW MB OWNER.

What's the big deal with doing it yourself? Just take it to the dealer you bought it from. They will sort it in minutes... Thats what you paid for...

You can turn the key into position one even if you have the push button start. Take the cap off, insert your key and turn.
