Can you still get a 3 year/100K mile Factory Extended Warranty from Mercedes Benz?

I have recently seen several new owners talk in this forum about their just acquired additional 3 year/75K mile extended warranty (e.g. Drmac's S65). Is MBUSA still offering a 100K mile extended warranty at the present time or has the max mileage been reduced to 75K? I was able to get an additional 3 year/100K mile extended warranty from MB on my '07 CL600 last December (2007). At that time, the warranty was priced (retail) at $4800 on my particular V12 model. I don't remember being offered a 75K mileage option. But I would not have found that attractive since it limits you to just an additional 25K miles from the standard 50K mile new car MB warranty. Back in 2000, I was able to get the maximum time/mileage then available - 4 additional years & 100K miles of warranty on my '00 E320 4Matic Wagon (for a total of 8 years and 100K miles). So these extended warranties are being changed and adjusted by MB often. We also saw a price increase earlier this year which almost doubled the cost of the MB extended warranties. Does anyone has the latest info/terms and retail cost of these MB warranties on a new S/CL 550, 600, 63 & 65? Z356.

the3yr/100k was available for around 7000 and got the 3yr/75k for 4200...the fiance guy showed me the different options and the 100k was available..he also told me that the price was going up soon. The 75k I thought was a great deal.

I applaud you for keeping your new benz for 100K miles. Most people like myself will usually get rid of their car around 40K miles unless you enjoy driving a C230 loaner for your 100K+ car. I'd go 3/75K and save the difference (because warranties are added options that are added to pad a dealer's profits).

Full Use of an Extended Warranty

AMGNSX996TT: I don't know if I will keep my '07 CL600 for 7 years and 100K miles, but at least I have the choice & option to do so without being concerned that I will be out of warranty at anytime during that period. And should I decide to sell the car before the warranties run out, this MB Extended Warranty could be a valuable 'asset' that might give me an advantage when trying to sell a complex V12-motored vehicle in this lousy upper-luxury market. I have a new philosophy for the use of this car - I will try to drive it and enjoy it for a long time. What has happened to me (and I think to many other enthusiasts like some of you in this forum) in the past is that we have all of these expensive cars and tend to save the best one for special occasions and limited travels. In the meantime, we drive mostly the least inexpensive car in our fleet so that it absorbs the miles and the dents. And while we do this, the nicer cars are depreciating like crazy and when we sell these pristine, low mileage cars to the next owner - we have taken the expense, given a total stranger an incredible $ deal and we did not sufficiently enjoyed driving & using our 'investment' for the period we owned it. So I recently got rid of my '05 Mini Cooper S Cab and '07 BMW 650 convertible, plus my '00 BMW Z8 garage queen. I kept the '07 CL600 for California and leased a new '09 E350 4Matic for our mountain home in Vail Valley. And the idea now is to use them - since I have no alternative means of transportation. Well, I do...but they are not daily drivers. I own 3 long nose early 70's 911s with original paint/interiors and low mileage. But these are rarely used and I can justify that since they are not depreciating assets and I like having them in my garages as automobile art. I am, though, selling my '53 Fiat Topolino since I am running out of garage space. So that is my story and I am sticking to it. Saludos, Z356

PS I would like to know all the options on the leftover '08 S550 you just purchased (low $80s) that had a MSRP of $115K. Congratulations.

An S550 has an MSRP of $115 if it is ordered with all options (including premium leather) except designo.

Unterturkheim: I am just curious as to all the options that the dealer ordered on this leftover '08 S550 4Matic which he then had to discount to $82K. I am hoping our friend amgnsx996tt will be forthcoming with the information just to satisfy my curiosity. I am glad that MB includes all options as standard in the S600 and CL600. The fact that this is not done on the S550 means that most sensible/prudent people will not order a loaded car since they will probably not get one dime more for all of their expensive options at resale. And an ordering dealer knows that a fully loaded S550 costs a much as a discounted S600 or S63, so it might be a hard sell! Thus, these fully optioned S550s and the S550 Designo interior cars are probably very rare in our US market. Regards, Z356

P2 package, pano roof, msrp was $104. However, the dealer decided to had a few accessories like LoJack, Clear Bra, Paint protection, iPod hookup, with a final markup window sticker of $115K.

I decided to consider the $104 msrp as the true sticker price since I did not request the additional options added.

$78K-$85K is what a '08 S550 should cost as the dealer gave me $21K off msrp over the phone. '07 S550 are already below $60K, and in a few weeks the '08s won't be too far behind. I don't think I got a great deal, but I got the car and color/options I wanted in the end so I pulled the trigger.

amgnsx996tt: Ok, that explains it now. In any case, getting the color and options you wanted is the most important thing...rather to settle for something you don't like just to save a few dollars. Pano roof is particularly striking on these cars (I have it on my '09 E350E) and it will add tremendous enjoyment to your ownership experience. I was set on finding an Armagnac interior S600 (rare Espresso Edition) in the Fall of 2007. But when I couldn't find a used S600 Espresso at a a good price (there was only one for sale at the time), I picked instead a CL600 with a rare Cognac interior (available at no cost on this model). I still like the Armagnac interior better (more orange/caramel) but the CL is growing on me, although not as practical. On the plus side, I was able to negotiate an MB Extended Warranty with the selling MB dealer since this '07 CL600 was technically 'new' (used by dealer CE0) and I am the first owner of record. If instead I would have bought the used Espresso S600, I couldn't have purchased a MB Extended Warranty since that is limited to the original owner of the vehicle. In the long term & given this bad economic climate, this Extended Warranty might be one of the most valuable 'options' that I got with this car. I have now a choice of keeping for a longer period and feel secure in the knowledge that I have a MB warranty to back up this rather complex V12 Mercedes. Z356

Getting anyone to deal on a new CL600 is alot tougher due to the limited production numbers. The car is absolustely stunning and design will be around so why not keep it a long time. Extended warranty does leave you more options at the end.
