S550 v. S63
1. Premium Leather: $1330
2. Premium 2: $4990
3. Sport Package $5690 (Although 550 has 19" wheels instead of 20")
4. ABC $3960
5. Power Rear Side Window Blindes $720
Total: $16690
That is still a $23310 price premium for the S63
The fact is that a 550 with EVERY option INCLUDING designo would be considerably less than a base 63, and without designo, it is still $16535 less.
My point was that for 99.9% of people, the utility derived from having all the features on an S would be far greater than extra HP on top of the 382. Not to mention for those who drive a lot, the 63 is horribly inefficient compared to the 550.
Total $16690
Untertürkheim, the main reason anyone would buy an S63 would be for the AMG performance. Period. The extra options are secondary. BTW, it's not P2, it's P3 that's standard on the S63. Also, the "sports pack" and "ABC" are not just the std. MB versions - they are AMG versions of "sports pack" and "ABC" which in and of themselves have a big premium. In addition, the side skirts and front apron are quite different from the regular sports pak..... not to mention the quad exhaust, sport steering w/shift paddles, etc.

Like I said, for a huge car, Im sure your car handles awesome, but its still a huge car.

I've owned a lot of sports cars from Germany and Italy but could never consider driving them daily, i.e. lack luxury, hassles, impractical, etc. But NOTHING beats them for the weekend blast around some great roads with Tubi exhaust!! However that said I can get all the luxury and practicality in my daily driver and get 80% of the handling performance with 100-110% of straight line performance for every day conditions in the 600 or 63.

This is based on my observations of driving conditions in the US: Laughably low speed limits, retarded drivers, horrible roads. Even one of the very few people with the personal ability to utilize more power and/or an AMG would see few opportunities to do so.
Also, consult the brochure, or your dealer, P2 is standard on the 63, not P3.

If I could only have one singular vehicle, it would be a 997 Twin Turbo. To me, that is the only car that has every day practicality, comfort and luxury options and sports car performance/handling.
