First significant malfunction after 18 months

I've had my 2007 for 18 months and 15K miles and I have my first significant problem.

I've had the "Park Assist inoperative" message randomly a few times, but it always cleared itself up. This time it was immediately followed by "ABS and ESP not functional - see owners manual" (or something to that effect). Shutting the car and restarting did not clear this up and the message has come up every time I've driven the car for the past 24 hours. Distronic Plus is also not operational.

I've cleaned the area with the sensors just in case, but this did not help.

I have an appointment with the dealership on Monday and will post back with what they find.

Interesting to know what the diagnosis gives. Odd if the brake light switch would fail after 18 months (but so would anything else). I cannot see anything else in common with Distronic Plus, Park Assist and ABS/ESP.

Just to keep everyone updated, it turned out to be a defective wheel sensor that was replaced at the dealership. All is well.

So, I had the same problem again! Took the car out last night, and got the "ABS, ESP inoperable" along with the Park Assist inoperable. Took it into the dealer today, and they replaced a wheel sensor again. Not sure if it was the same one or one on a different wheel.

Luckily my extended (7 year) MB warranty expires tomorrow!!

I have almost the similar problem, first the message said ABS and ESP currently unavailable. I brought new consumer battery from the dealer and replace the original 8 year old battery. that did not fix the problem. Now the message read ABS and ESP inoperative. My warranty expired, I will have to take it to an indie shop.
