Hey guys, I've spoken to two different dealerships and you can special order a 6 in 1 PCMCIA Adapter for $102.00. Also even though I'm new to Mercedes Benz, I beg to differ that MB is behind the curve. As a BMW owner, I see just how far ahead MB is in comparison. MB offers the park in play video standard on the S-Class, BMW 7 Series owner wished that they could even get this as an upgrade. So regardless of the current technology that we may have to work with, just know that BMW is still trying to catch up.

Not sure the COMMAND system will take advantage of the 32 bit adapter, but I'm going to find out.

This has been my problem as well - The stupid iPod integration is a joke (so the $450 + $400 for the ipod was wasted) - The PCMCIA is a very old technology - the new express cards are much better but the S550 does not do the faster expresscard - I simply do not understand the logic behind having to use the PCMCIA adapter - they should have simply provided the slots for the sdhc or compact flash cards - Another sad discovery on my 09-S550 now with only 478 miles !!

So is anybody having the same issue I am: Every time I start the car it takes 15 seconds for the CF card in the PCMCIA adapter to start playing? Not the first time I insert the adapter but with every start up.
If you are having an instant play please list your CF card and PCMCIA adapter.

I've had the car for 20 days and I am loving it. I've had mbs for 12 years but this is my first S class (Last one was 06 e-500).
1. Very impressed with driving on the rain on those all weather tires they started putting on S.
2. Every time I am on the freeway it seem I am going 60 but actually going 85+.
3. Over all the car is very well built
4. It just looks so beatufull, every time I am in the garage just can't stop looking at it (specially the AMG package.)
5. Handeling and power is just right (better then my E)
Had my windows tinted last weekend , it is a black beast now.
Had DVD enabled while in motion.
Looking into installing a hiden radar detector (can't get my passport to work through those infrared windows)
Overall: BEST CAR I'VE EVER HAD

How do I use "CF I+II, SD, SDHC, xD, micro drives, Smart Media, and MS cards".... in my 2007 s550?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have an iPod integration kit but the kit does not AUTO charge the ipod hence it is of no big use of having an ipod.

The ipod kit is basically a mandatory option from MB. It is indeed a waste of money.
But the CF/PCMCIA card music solution has brought my entire music library into my car; and works pretty well.
The PCMCIA technolgy allows for the use of CF I+II, SD, SDHC, xD, micro drives, Smart Media, and MS cards. Pretty convenient.

Thanks Tom. I will buy this right away from Amazon; and then I would need to still figure out how I can get an Ipod Integration Kit which can AUTO charge my iPod.
I have a PCMCIA (PC card) adapter for my CF cards which works well. If you want to use other cards try the card below. About $20 at Amazon. Good luck!

Has any one tried using an Ultra III CF Card. The read and write speeds are much higher... but then again this all depends on how fast the w211 can read and write aswell.

2008 to 09 S550
I am thinking about selling the E63 and get the S550. Does the current head units can play .avi files ? or just playback single dvd movie when car is stopped. I put the pioneer avic-z110bt on my current car and it works perfectly, good thing is I can convert the movies to .avi or mp4 and playback through the thumb drive. Instead of changing the dvd movies for my daughter LOL.
Does anyone know if that S550 head unit can be modified in order to playback .avi files ?
I believe it won't fit aftermarket headunits, cause last time when I test drive it, I notice that the design and the motorized left right rotation lol. Very cool design.
Any help will be great. Cause I would Like to get the S Class. Parents coming over, need a bigger car lol.
