New 7 Series Launch ???
The design aesthetics of the interior and exterior will probably polarize some opinions, but the turbocharged V8 should be a brilliant engine. I'm looking forward to test driving one.

Edmunds seems to like it. And while I couldn't care less about performance in this type of car, the standard 750 seems to put up S63 type numbers.

"Instead, the 750i quietly pins you into its double-articulated seatback on its way to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds (or 4.9 seconds with 1 foot of rollout as on a drag strip). That's about a second quicker than the S550 and old 750i, and just as quick as the S63 AMG that costs $37,000 more."
"At the track, the 2009 BMW 750i and its engineering bag of tricks managed to snake through the slalom at a truly remarkable 66 mph — 3 mph faster than the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG."
straight from the article. I didn't write it.
At our test track, this big, black behemoth sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. If you're disappointed, you've never experienced zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds

)That being said, I will be heading to the local BMW dealership to partake in an evening of sipping fine wine, eating cheese and........... witnessing the unveiling of this new 7....
I got a personal invitation from one of the salesman (who's basically had me on his email list for the last 3 years - sending me emails after emails)

VonBeeler paid $105k for the vehicle. Regardless of how much he still owes, the loan plus the downpayment =$105k.
So in the next 2.5 years
VB pays $60k in payments
and loses $50k in depreciation
Total cost=$110k
Bmw guy pays $65k for the same time period, and has no worries on depreciation.
Looking at it that way you forgot to add back in the value of the car.
Suppose the car had a market value $45k value in 2.5 years.
So adding the $45k back into your total cost of $110k=
REVISED total cost: $65k.
So the BMW guy and I came out the same on $.
Obviously there are a lot of different ways to look at it.
The main thing is that I wanted a V12. I wasn't in the position to spend $150k. So I waited 12 mos and found a RARE AMG sport pack V-12. lightly used.
For me used is the only way to go now. With kids and all I feel guilty buying new. And being the car enthusiast waiting 1 year lets me get much more car and very near new. Although buying new can be logical. If you can get a hot new style at MSRP, there is a chance of low depreciation. Example: new Corvette in 05 $47k. Value 4 years later $32k. $15k depreciation in 4 years= buy new. Or any new Ferrari (get on the list). Just make sure you sell it in the first year or two or you will be facing $100k depreciation.

I dont buy this Edmunds BS. I know the S63 is in the 4.2-4.5 range.
The S550 is in the 5.5 range. So the S63 would smoke the new 7.
The new 7 would give the S550 a good run, maybe a hair faster.
Call BS all you want. It appears that they are consistent in how they do their acceleration runs, so if the times are off for the S63, they are probably off for the 7 series as well.
If the Edmunds test car was a POS lemon, then many other magazines and such would have gotten crappy numbers, as they have but a few press cars of each type.

So now we are supposed to believe that Edmond's at 5.2?
I don't.
Yeah, it's probably just the long-term test cars. I read it a while ago. I'll go see if I can find it.

I looked at it this way:
You bought the car for 105k.
You've so far paid about $45k in payments.
So, over the next 2.5 years, you will be paying out $60k in payments and simultaneously losing $50k in depreciation. I was starting at your current position, not the position once the car is paid for.
Also, interest is a tough cookie for pre-owned vehicles.

I love the new 7.... Maybe even more than the W221, which says something as I've rarely, if ever found BMW Sedans nicer than their M-B counterparts.
What I find interesting is how Bangle/BMW started this whole design trend in which most all cars have copied (M-B included as one of the followers), and with this new 7 it's like they cut the gimmicks and pull the rug out from under everyone. Right now everyone's getting more and more angular and sharp-cut, which is now so trendy and time-specific, and all of a sudden BMW goes a different direction. Commendable IMO.
They went back to a sleeker, more rounded/curvaceous and understated, yet precise look. IMO it will age better and retain a more timeless aura than the models it replaces and perhaps even better than the 221 which has a very "now" look to it, with the flares, creases and bangle-butt (I know it's actually the Maybach butt). I also like how the new 7 did away with the atrocity of said butts.
I also kind of like the interior look over the 221's, it doesn't feel as solid from what I remember, but I think the design is very nice and it doesn't have that empty middle area with the big plastic pieces the 221 does, and it *thankfully* has a proper shifter.
