Tire

What brand of tire are you running on your S class, and how many miles do you usually get out of a set of tires?

Michelin PS2's and have 18K on them. Fronts look good for another 5-10K but I may need to replace the rears in 5K miles.

is that the norm? what are others getting? - hard to believe they would last that long. only reason i did not get them was that I wanted something with more than 10k miles.

My car has mostly highway miles and not much stop and go.Also, my brake pads are still more then 50%. I have heard 20K miles or so is the norm for PS2's(280 AA A?). I may go with the Michelin PS2 Plus A/S next because they have something like a 500 AA A rating.

I am running Michelins on the front but I have Sumitomos on the rear. I get twice the miles on front tires as I do rears , so I tried out a cheaper priced tire (Sumitomo) and I love them. They seem to be wearing great and are quiet.

I'll probably go with them on the front when the fronts have to be replaced.

At 1200 miles I replaced the Dunlop Sport SP01 that came on my 2008 S550 4Matic with Michelin Pilot A/S plus due to the fact that the Dunlops performed poorly in the snow and didn't want to risk crashing. Only had one more light snow to test the Michelins in but they seemed to perform much better, especially when braking. With 4000 miles on the Michelins I am so far very pleased. I will get around to posting the Dunlops for sale one of these days, as they are in my garage gathering dust.

Michelins are always a safe bet.

I have just put Falken 452's on the S-Class which i am very pleased with quite and we will see how they last. $80 a corner cheaper, dont know if you have them in the U S of A.

Had Conti Contac 2' s from the factory, got 20,000 from them not to bad.

We have Michelin Pilot Primacys. They have been lasting about 20k on the rears and about 35k on the fronts. Even though they are correctly inflated, the rears seem to wear out in the middle section first.

It's time to replace the rears again. I think I'm gonna put on ContiSportContact 2s this time or maybe save a few bucks and get the ContiProcontact H-rated tires instead. Do you think going from a higher speed rating to an H rated tire will affect the car much?
