I'm not sure how long your planning to keep but you should also consider the steep depreciation especially in light of a new design for 3 years from now. If the last 65/600 is a good indication you will see about $90k depreciation on the 600 and about $130k dep on the 65 in 3 years.

Excellent considerations. I might get a 2010 S65 myself, in the year 2012 . I am constantly looking at them on Ebay and they drop 40-50% in cost very quickly and I found one the other day with only 9000 miles on it

One thing to be closely aware of though is that the S65 will not automatically come with distronic. Make sure that is mentioned on the order. You don't want the bullet holes.

"***-accelerometer" .......Not quite. More like sitting my *** in an S65 and setting the AMG race timers on both the 65 and 63. The S65 Came out about 1-2 secs. slower on the initial 0-60 mph drag.

Really WSH? What if I told you that the S63 and S65 have the exact same brakes? Oh wait, what if I even provided you a link to show you that?

"Car w/no torque"? Man, seriously, can I have a little bit of whatever it is that you're smoking? It seems to be making you say funny things like "the S63 has no torque".
"poseurish"? Wow! You do realize that the last time I checked, MB wasn't offering any options of slapping "AMG" badges on the S63, nor were they offering rotating chrome hub caps from Wal Mart as an option...... It IS an actual AMG sedan manufactured in Sindelfingen, GmBH..... along with it's brother, the S65, you know....

I know you're kidding WSH, right? Please tell me that you are

I thought I had made up my mind but this is getting to be tougher than I expected. I have a print out here from my dealer on some info on all the 2010 S Class models.

S600 has everything in the S550 which includes Attention Assist (New), P1 including Active Bi-Xenon Headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps (Modified), Adaptive Highbeam Assist (New), Heated and Active Ventilated Front Seats. Plus Active Body Control (ABC) Suspension With Crosswind Stabilization (Modified), Exclusive Leather Interior With Alcantara Headliner, Brown Poplar Wood Trim, Heated Wood/Nappa Leather Steering Wheel, P2 Package, Driving Assistance Package (New), Rear Seat Entertainment Package (New), Power Rear Side Window Sunblinds, Panorama Sunroof, & Night View.

The S63 has everything in the S550 as stated above, plus ABC With Crosswind Stabilization and AMG Calibration (Modified), High Performance Dual-Piston Sliding-Caliper AMG Brakes, AMG Leather-Trimmed Sport Steering Wheel With Aluminum Shift Paddles, AMG Aerodynamic Bodywork, AMG Sport Exhaust System With Dual Twin Chrome Tailpipes, AMG Premium Leather Sport Seats, Drive-Dynamic Multicontour Front Seats With Four-Level Massage Function, AMG Brushed Stainless Steel Door Sills, PARKTRONIC, KEYLESS-GO, REAR VIEW CAMERA.

The S65 has all the standards of the S600, plus ABC With Crosswind Stabilization and AMG Calibration (Modified), High Performance Dual-Piston Sliding-Caliper AMG Brakes, AMG Leather-Trimmed Sport Steering Wheel With Aluminum Shift Paddles, AMG Aerodynamic Bodywork, AMG Sport Exhuast System With V12 Design Tailpipes, AMG Exclusive Leather Sport Seats, Diamond Cross-Stitching On Seats And Door Panels, AMG Brushed Stainless Steel Door Sills, and Top Speed Raised To 186 MPH.

Basically I am assuming you don't get Panorama Sunroof or Night View Assist in the S65 or S63 but you do in the S600. No Parktronic, Keyless Go, or Rear View Camera in the S600 or S65 but you do in the S63. MBUSA better not screw this up like they did with the C63.

I will check and make sure this info is correct because I had and liked the Key Less Go, Night View Assist, Parktronic, and Rearview Camera in my 07 S550 Launch Edition. Also if I do choose the S65 there better be a Rear Seat Entertainment Package & Rear Seat Package as well.

Everything you have in S63 you get in S65 plus more.
Parktronic, keyless go,night assist etc are standard in both 600 and 65.

Obviously a problem with your launch technique.
If you had S65 1-2 second slower to 60 then the S63 it is obvious that you had to slam the throttle to the floor with no regard to traction.
S65 will struggle to hook up while the S63 with it's much lower torque will grab the traction easier.
You are right, for people with elephant foot ,S63 would be much better choice.
I can promise you one thing though, any time you line up against any 65 series for an impromptu drag race to 60, you will see it's rear bumper before you see that 60(unless it's raining or snowing then it's more about tires).

This debate could really go one forever and obviously everyone has their heated opinions and preferences.

Whether your considering the 63-600-65 they are all 3 the best cars available in the market. This is a luxury problem you have, which is a good thing. Most people will never be fortunate enough to have this problem.

The 63 and 600 are close in performance. If you leaning toward more sport 63, more luxury 600, 65 both to the extreme. It really boils down to how much money you want to spend. If you like hot rodding around and you have another smaller and lighter car for that, I will repeat my suggestion for the 600.

How much difference between a 600 with a tuned ECU vs. stock 63? Anyone compared the two?

Well stock to stock the 600 is quicker than the 63...with an ecu tune the 600 would murder the 63...

the 63 will brake and handle a little better than the 600 though...

Is it a modified one?
I remember similar numbers on my '04 S600 that had everything available from Renntech at the time....

I'll take that.

Markopolo that Dyno is pretty good for an S600. I think I will test drive both to get an idead of what I want for the 2010 and make my final decision this weekend.

Thank you all for all the help and info!

Mine as stock was dynoed at 484rwhp,most of the other 600s were also in that range.
Markopolo's car is way more powerful, amazing numbers for a stock car ,make the new 600 best value in it's class IMO.

A good way to confirm this would be to have the dealer reset/reflash your ecu and redyno. This way we'll ALL know for sure that it wasn't modded or tuned...

Marko...great numbers.

Not to rain on the parade...BUT...only true power teller is at the strip...dynos are VERY unreliable no matter which one and how it's set up...each day a different reading...

This isn;t to say the 600s aren't underrated...they are very powerful but as with all cars take dynos with a pinch of salt...a guy in the W211 section with an E55 got 484 and on the next day got 410...
