Ordered A 2010 S600 - Thinking Of Changing To S65 Instead

Not to rain on the parade...BUT...only true power teller is at the strip...dynos are VERY unreliable no matter which one and how it's set up...each day a different reading...
This isn;t to say the 600s aren't underrated...they are very powerful but as with all cars take dynos with a pinch of salt...a guy in the W211 section with an E55 got 484 and on the next day got 410...

I just don't know enough about Dynojet to say anything authoritive. That's why I posted the graph for more knowledgeable members to comment .
I certainly will redyno the car, even if the nice bubble may burst. I even asked Oxygen (member) to assist me.
I promise not to frame the graph and put it on the wall

no matter what the outcome may be...
Mark.

Also the grade of fuel can influence that as well as the humidity, temp, etc from test to test.
Most folks riding in the passenger seat, the rear seat, heck, even the driver's seat will notice the cosmetic stuff more anyway. The 600 is a beast already as I'm amazed at mine every time I crack the whip on it.
Back in Summ06, simultaneously had an '07 997TT (Tip/PCCB) and '07 SL65; greatly preferred SL65 even in mtn twisties (just hated SL65 brake pedal feel)

In ?late '06, had '07 CL600 and '07 599 (again simultaneously); preferred 600 even in mtn twisties, let alone a fast, tq-intensive fwy

Need to drive these cars back-to-back on interesting, real-world roads to draw own conclusions
Lots of F/P/AMG w/great track times on NBR are awful (but amusingly mockable) cars in mtn twisties or in daily urban/suburban commuting

Hi VK,
When will we see 2010s on the showrooms? Do you know? Late August/early Sept is when my dealership seems to get the first of the latest.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

The reason is...simple (or not so).
You certainly get the most "bang for the buck" (if interested in that),
but even if money is no object, get two cars then. Or rather one of each.
What I mean... money is always an object.
As they say, when you reach a "point of diminishing returns", the great wine sloooowly turns sour.
I have to stretch - that's in my view, of course.
Lots of guys bought 65 and I'M VERY HAPPY FOR THEM.
In my case, you may relate to that (or not) after few years, 65 may become a big headache. Starting with 20" wheels (East coast teritory).
I changed my 19" rims and tires 6 (six!) times already within a year. If not for additional insurance, I'd be really pissed.
Another factor might be an appearance.
I know, I know, AMG look. Guess what, not everybody likes it. How much do you want to show to the outside world.
Few people (I know) - don't!
Then, another one in my view, that some people are trying to imply, AMG looks/brakes/twisty turns/balance ... do make such a HUGE difference?
Well, maybe in perfect world...as no winds, no Earth spinning, only early in the morning and no other cars around.
I'm a lazy driver, no Niki Lauda here, comfort is the name of the game.
Followed by performance
To me, PERFECT combination!
I just caught myself (too much typing)
No matter what you get, it's LEGENDARY V12TT.
No other car can compare...
Again....test drive, compare and let us know!

I never owned, nor drove, a 12 cylinder car. Sounds exciting!
Get the S65 & - Full Renntech stage 3 modifications, tint, lightweight rims, improved sound system, stealth radar detector system.
You'll never dream of driving a different everyday sedan. Flying Spur Speed is another option.
PS-\Get the Designo and mods anyway. S65 is the way to go.

You're looking at $250K at the least. Then in 3 years, it might, just might, be worth $110K, options and all.

Bad weather like rain or snow, dirt or sand on the road and AMG will struggle for traction while the Bentley just goes...
Going Renntech would only increase the existing distance between these two cars and would be useless in situations with poor traction.

Like I said - If he is not worried about price and is going purely on "feel"....a fully modified S65 is hard to beat....a stock S65 is an amazing feeling but with the addition of the stage 1,2,3 Renntech mods....well...It's hard to explain? It almost feels fake. Acceleration at any point in time...and you find reasons to drive ALONE vs the added weight of other passengers...

Or you could just get the new Toyota Prius.

The only car I didn't buy new was my S65, as I think they are over priced for the amount of changes from the S600....however, had I bought it new it would remain stock. My friend who I bought it from had the mods done, and there was always a problem or too. I never do engine mods to my cars (I do mod the diesel pickups on occasion) and am currently in the process of "returning the S to stock" at my local dealership as it is the only way they have said they'll continue to do the extended warranty work (MB is clamping down on them). Having driven a stocker I also noticed v little diference aside from the shifts being a little smoother

Absent's point was spot on...it's far faster stock than the FS in a straight line in dry conditions but in the wet this car would be bested by a Mini...
Personally speaking I think the S65 is a car that needs no mods...great power and brakes and handles as well as a 5000lb boat is ever gonna...

--Why doesn't he pick up a used Flying Spur? They are depreciating so quickly and prices have become so attractive.....
S600, S65, Flying Spur.....I think any of these choices would do fine. As for me? Stock sucks. I've always modified all of my cars.....

I have a quick question. I ordered my 2010 S600 2 weeks ago but still have time to change the order. After seeing the S65 AMG, I was wondering what the main difference would be? I like the sound of the S65
but not sure how the S600 will sound in comparison or if it will have the same bells and whistles? Anybody know? Thanks!
Well? What's the verdict?
