NEED HELP--MB BULLETIN NEEDED sw command update

I tried to search through the boards and have found contradictory responses.

I have a 2007 S550 made in 2006. I need a COMMAND SW Mercedes Benz Bulletin No.--

I was told that it was a free update--

Does anyone have a quick answer.

Thanks in advance

It should be enhanced for free simply by request, but most of us (not all) have gotten it done for free by complaining that the nav update won't load up. The dealership usually helps the customer out by updating the comand so that the disc will load up. I wish this resolution was consistent among all dealerships so that we could give you a solid answer.

The bulletins are closer than you thought perhaps:

Like above, I'd buy the latest map DVD and ask the dealer to take care of the update...

I was told that I had to have a problem with the navigation system to fall under the service bulletin.

"MBUSA DTB P-B-82.85/512h NOV08 software update for COMAND and Telematics system".

Does anyone know the symptoms?

I was told there were 15----screen flashing and gliches etc.

I dont think it is necessary to pay $300 for a free update.

Also the service guy said the car will never play video in park--

But if you haven't seen any issue with your Comand (which would be quite likely), you would not really need the SW update.

If you don't need updated maps, I would not consider the low likelihood issues with current Comand SW big enough a problem to justify the workshop time (even if MB would pay for that).

But if your service guy claims there will not be any video in park, place a bet with him, you pay for the update and the new map DVD if there is no video and he pays for the update and the map DVD if there is.

My service guy told me I would never get real time traffic even after my command update. About three days later I started receiving real time traffic.
Most the service guys don't seem to be as knowledgeable as they should be.

I was asking the service guy about the face lift for the '10 diesel GL I'm considering for the wife. He went on and on about there is no face lift because the 550 was just updated and blah blah...He didn't know what he was talking about and I didn't have the time or energy to correct him.
