Battery life expected

When should the two batteries in my 07 S600L be replaced, dont say when they fail as that would be to late. The owners manual says 2 years, has anyone had experiance in this area.

Where does the manual state this 2 year life time? Are you talking about the big batteries, the starter battery and the rear battery or do you mean the KG key batteries? The latter may go flat sooner, depending the use pattern and where the key is kept but you should get a warning first. The big batteries last longer than 2 years.

The batteries i refer to are the 2 large ones ie starting and consumer units.
The owners manual page 516 suggests every 2 years or 20,000km.

That really depends on where you live and how you use your car. In North America where it's not uncommon people drive 1000 miles per week and have all kinds of rigs in their own garage to do battery maintenance the battery could last 8 or even 10 years. In a densely populated city like Tokyo or HK where it's common people don't drive over 1000 miles in 6 months then battery lasts maximum 2 years.

Are you referring to a Canadian manual? Does not sound like a US car and I don't find such a statement from the Euro manual.

Can you post a copy of the relevant page of the manual?
