2009 S550 AMG Package
Just found out my S550 is governed.
Well, just got into a new S550, black/tan, AMG package. I absolutely love it thus far, but was dismayed when the engine basically shut down around 130 MPH.
I guess a little bit of research would have revealed this prior to purchase, but I don't think it would have changed anything. I came from the LX and will never look back.
Does anyone know anywhere in Palm Beach County where I can get the governor overridden, or removed? I understand it needs to be done by computer, but beyond that, I am lost.
Like I said, besides that, the car is amazing. Powerful, subtle, attractive, comfortable. I don't think I'll ever have another car as my primary. I am now interested in the S63/65, but will cross that bridge at a later date.

Renntech will do it. How much $, I don't know. If you get it changed, your dealership tech might flash the computer unknowingly and set it right back to 130. Make sure the SA and mechanic know you've had the change done.

Go for it! Here in Ontario Canada, if you drive over 30 mph over a posted speed limit, (i.e. 90 in a 60 zone) the cops take your car and keys for a week right on the spot! -- Sucks eh?

Ya I just got into my first Mercedes and found some RENNtech stuff already installed. Turns out they are in Palm Beach. Look them up I guess www.renntechmercedes.com
