2009 S350 A/C question

When I have everything on the A/C set to "auto" and select the air circulation button (air is circulated rather than getting fresh outside air), the car switches to outside car after a certain amount of time. Why is this? My father's 2001 E240 also did this. Secondly, if I enable air circulation and turn off the car, when I turn on the car the button is switched off. 2001 E240 also did this too.

How do I keep air circulation on all the time?

I'm not so sure there's a way to keep it on permanently. AFAIK, ALL MBs do this. I now just "ignore" this button.

Can you explain why would you want to breath your fart longer than MB allows? The time air circulation remains on depends on the temperature (manual should explain). MB considers this a safety issue, not only fresh air for the driver and passengers but a risk of glasses getting misty from humidity (although I believe if AC is on, it should dry the air in circulation mode too).
