Tips & Tricks - What you always wanted to know
OK guys, I'd like to start a thread that isn't present on this forum, sort of neat tips and tricks for our cars.
My first addition to this would be:
Programming your key to unlock:
a] all doors, fuel flap and boot (default settings)
or
b] driver's door and fuel flap only which can be useful when traveling alone.
Hold your lock and unlock button on your key for 6 seconds until you see the red dot flash twice. Change back to original settings, the same procedure.
With KEYLESS-GO, touch driver's door handle opens only your door and fuel flap. Touch any other door and it opens the whole car.

Another trick that you won't find in a manual - Should you be using paddles (or shifting buttons) in C or S mode, and would like to get back to automatic gear selection, hold one of the paddles or shifting buttons for a second, the transmission selects the best gear automatically and you can keep on driving without having to go through C/M/S again.

This is for MY10 only, to be able to display the BOTTOM set of LED fog lights by THEMSELVES (which cant be done with the normallight switch since middle position will only activate the top parking lights). Go into the setting control in your dashboard using your wheel buttons and activate "daytime running lamps". This will enable your LED fog lights to be ON by themselves when your light switch is on AUTO during the day (like AUDI). It looks really cool!

Good idea for a thread...
Correct, adjust the Nav volume while guidance is speaking, adjust the audio volume while music is playing, adjust the Tel volume while in call.

Parking brake at a red light
On my 2007, I often engage the parking brake at a light while leaving the car in drive. That way I can take my foot off the regular brake and when I'm ready to go, all I have to do is accelerate and the parking brake releases. I know, I'm lazy, blah blah blah...

Then I can take my foot off the brake and when I hit the gas, the brakes release. Great for starting on hills.
Not sure if this feature is on all the cars or just Distronic+ cars.

A double-tap on the brake pedal (after the car is stopped) in my 2010 engages the hold feature. A bold HOLD appears on the lower left of the speedo.

And best of all........hit the mute button on right steering wheel while the NAV biach is talking and it will shut her down until you boot up again. Has to be done when "she" is giving voice command.

So here's a weird one. Learned about this on my 03' E500 and tried it on the S with success.
The accelerator "learns" driving patterns and for us city drivers can get sluggish after a while. To reset:
turn key to A position battery on. Depress accelerator all the way down for 10 seconds. turn off key with pedal down. Keep car off a few minutes. Supposedly an ECU engine control unit reset. When you drive again you may notice the car is more touchy or faster out of gear.

Just learned that when I press the accelerator pedal, the car goes forward.
More amazingly, when I press the brake pedal (too hard), I have my rear bumper smashed.
Ha.
PS.
Dont' let me start on my left/right signals.
I think they wired right/left. Or at least, that's what my wife is telling me
