Congrats! Be sure to post some pics!
I'm probably a little too late, but if I was here a little sooner I would've said to make sure and NOT let the dealer "detail" your car, unless of course you want some scratches and swirls and marring. IMO, it's better to only let them remove all the plastics and pay for a professional detailer to detail it for you.

That's a nice deal - my wife's '07 went for $102k new, also an AMG, Premium 2 package car with auto-rollup shades on the rear doors, that's not including taxes.
$99k out the door is a great deal for a new car. However, I bought my wife's S550 with a little over 20k miles 6 months ago for $55k at the Highline Riverside auction :-) That's less than half price from retail, but it was 2 years old + at this point.

What kind of auction is that - dealers or retail ?
I'm thinking to go to dealers auction to buy S on winter time, but can't decide yet to buy S or lease new E. I'm kind of afraid of repair cost. I'd like to keep it for about 3-4 years and I drive about 12K-15K miles a year.Have you had any problems with your car? Have you bought extended warranty or you take a chance ?
I checked Manheim auction prices - today you can buy 2007 S with 30K miles on it for $42K-$45K. It will be still on factory warranty for about 6-8 months. What do you think about it - Buy used S or lease new E ?

Buy a used S, you still have some warranty. Remember - E-class cars are taxis in Europe, do you want to drive a taxi? :-)
I bought mine at the Manheim Riverside auction - great deals on lease returns. be careful not to buy a lemon car there if you plan to sell in 3-4 years...

How can one tell if Manheim 's car is a lemon? just from carfax or do we need to get the VMI details? or other way?
Thanks.

I guess, if it's good for extended warranty - it must not be a lemon.
Carfax can help you to see some history of the car, like when it was serviced, what changed, accidents, etc..., but many CARFAX reports I saw have just 2 records - the day it was sold ( original ) and the day it was sold on an auction. It mainly applies to dealer's or MB manufactory cars.....don't know why....
P.S. And..of course...you should buy only on green light and from MB financial service ..or any bank who leasing the car....no second hand dealer
