On the navigation screen the bar that represents the scale of the map is half black and half orange. Is the indicated scale represented by the whole bar (both colors) or just the orange half?

I've been driving this car for 2 1/2 years and haven't gotten around to figuring this out.

I apologize if this has been answered but my search came up empty.
