I'm wondering whether or not I should extend my factory warranty. My 07 S550 has 46k miles so I'm near the end of my warranty. I was quotes $3800 to extend it another 3 years/25,000 miles with Mercedes. Seems a bit steep to me. How would I go about getting a better deal? Where can I buy it for less? I live in New York so I;d be willing to travel to another dealer for a better deal. Anyone know a place?

I just bought a 07 S550 with 42K miles. bought the 4 yr 50K warrantee for 2700.00.. The way my 02 S600 turned into a money pit I thought it was good idea..

yes it is negotiable and try to call different dealers to check prices. I think your price is a little high

Mine is not with Mercedes. It is with a company that the dealer carries.. It is about 1/2 what they wanted for MB warrantee.. 100.00 deductible for work that is done..

You can get a good extended warranty for 4 years 48 thousand miles for under $4k. Factory warranty is the best way to go if you don't mind spending more. The way to work with aftermarket warranties is to have a really good service adviser at the dealer that will work with the adjusters. Also, read the policy carefully and make sure systems like ABC, seals and gaskets, electronics are covered with the aftermarket warranty - not just the drive train. When buying an extended warranty ask for all of the options available and compare/contrast - for example, Western General is a good aftermarket warranty on these cars, but they have multiple options and not all have comprehensive coverage. There is a lot of markup on these warranties, so make sure to shop them.

My 07 S550 only had 13K miles when I bought it but I purchased a 5 yr. 100K extended warranty through Carchex.com

It was right around $3k Didn't even have to pay the full amount upfront. You can pay monthly. I have the titanium package with full coverage of everything including night vision.
