Can we have a list of the part numbers here so maybe we can have it cheaper here in the US?

I will do a full write up as I get the parts. It's still on the way here at the moment...

Patience, my friend.

LOL but I only had my 2009 for less than a year and it's been driven under 2000 miles since I owned. If I sell it now, I will lose the USD equivalent of at least USD30k.

This conversion is MUCH cheaper....

Sooooo...they are here.....

My 2nd daughter who is only 2.5 yo is so excited she wanted to lift the box...

So here's the obligatory teasers....

Excellent packing, so much bubble wrap and the lights and the modules are safely packaged in the middle of the box....

I got 6 precoded (i hope!) modules, 1 main module, a wiring harness and a pair of lights....

Close up on the wiring harness. Sorry, on the request of the seller (it's his proprietary design and research), I am not allowed to post the whole harness. But it's SO nicely made and insulated.

So.....off to the Brabus shop on saturday to get this installed. I hope it's painless....

So did the new lights come with it's own ballasts or do you need to transplant your old ones?

They are all new ballasts and plug & play.

By the way, those who want to attempt their own conversion:

You did not get this from me...

Only the wiring harness to plug all the lights.

But you still need all the modules and code each of them.

Found a site that wants almost 4500 for both pairs of headlights. Is it really worth it though

2,000 miles in one year?? You must not like the car very much. I drive my 2008 20,000 a year and after I reach 80,000 or so will buy the new model. For the money you spend on upgraded headlights, you 1) invalidate your warranty 2) still have a 2009 car 3) have lights of questionable aesthetics, in my opinion that better belong to the chrome wheel set crowd. I think (hope) that the LED craze will pass soon--at least before I buy my next car.

Haha...this is where a difference in culture comes in. I got other cars for work and if I need to haul the big family. The benz is my weekend drive, if even that. I buy it because I like to look at it and I've always liked modding cars at heart (i've owned everything from a twin turbo toyota to a drag-spec subaru). Can a guy buy a car for a different purpose other than driving it? I just happen to think the new S is a design marvel of a car.

Then again, why do I need to explain myself? I open this thread because many other people are interested in the conversion and I thought I should document the process so they won't have to go through the pain and confusion.

And just to answer your question, here in Indonesia, modding your car doesn't invalidate the warranty. That's one of the perks of buying a $210k car. The dealership literally treats you like the king. In fact, it was the dealership who installed my 2010 rear lights and crossed the wires for me to get them to work. I don't hear them whining about warranties....I just go there, give them the parts and tell them to install it. They will never refuse me or else I will take my business elsewhere.

You don't need to explain yourself. This thread is very helpful for those of us interested in the process of Face-Lift conversion.

I gotta say, I wouldn't do a lot of what you're doing mod-wise (personally, seems like a headache!), but a passion is a passion.

I also drive my car like 3-4K Miles a year, but I spend a lot of time cleaning, admiring, stressing over, etc., it. That's part of car enthusiasm. I've spent massive time keeping my car as perfect as I can, while thinking I have no idea when I might all of a sudden want to switch it for something else, some of us consider that "care" process as part of the enthusiasts experience, at least I do.

It is important to get your money's worth, but I agree, having a car who's design you can admire, and just enjoy "looking at" is doing just that, IMO.

Yep. One man's junk is another man's treasure. The other guy might hate the LEDs but I happen to love it (and judging from some of the responses here, a lot others seem too).

Thanks for the comment. I am going to the shop this Sat. I hope it really is plug&play.

+1, Everyone is not going to like what you like, but as long as you're happy and it's your money you're spending you can go as extravagant as you want. I personally like the LEDs I think they make the car look very sexy, but I also like the original lights as well. When it comes right down to it, it's all about what you like and it really doesn't matter what someone else thinks.

Yup ^^.

Good thing for me, if I do get a 221, I actually like the OG rear lights, and the OG rear-view mirrors. However, the new front grille and headlights are what I'd go after if I started to mod. Would be cool if someone cracks that mod "code" in figuring out how to get the headlights to plug & play easily!
