thanks diesel, irie and the team for the info. one more question, i was able to see one brake pad wear sensor on each, the front and rear passenger side. Are there any on the front driver side? at least I was not able to see one there.

Frankly I think irieblue you are speaking to deaf ears on any sort of mod, from my observation in reading the majority of posts that come from s class owners that they are the most conservative of any benz class owners that are resistant to mods or personalizing the cars. I feel their contentment with the brakes stems from stock is best approach, which is ok but not for everyone.
Ok time to put on my flame suit.

The old jurid pads lasted 25k miles. Installed only fronts and replaced the passenger side sensor. bought centric posi-quiet semi metallic pads (104.12230) from rockauto.xxx for 57.79 plus shipping and front passenger side break pad wear sensor from autohausaz.xxx for $11.02 plus shipping and of course the disk break quite etc.
all together about $90 to do the fronts.
effort and sense of accomplishment --- PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!
so far I have had good experience with centric pads with previous vehicles hence centric.
Disclosure: I don't own centric shares or benefit from centric sales.

There is one on the driver side front as well, it is attached from the inside with a female headed Hex nut. you will see it once you remove the tire and look from the inside, the one on the passenger side is visible through the rim. and there is one on the passenger side rear. So there is a total of 3.
I personally would not change any of the sensors if they are not bad. essentially when the brake pad had worn so far that the plastic sensor head gets into contact with the rotor and creates and open circuit and you see the message (BREAK WEAR) on the dash board. If you see this message you can be sure one or more of your sensors are worn out and need to be replaced.
Additionally I had seen the message "low brake fluid" prior to "BREAK WEAR" on the dashboard, I should have changed the pads at that time, which would have prevented me from replacing the sensors since there would only be two possibilities for low break fluid level message either a leak or break pad wear.
In retrospect it might just be better to change the sensor and it might get damaged while removing it and your car would be sitting on the jack stand and you have to go hunting for a sensor locally from the dealer or xyz store.

Hey I'm glad that u got yours done. I'm lost on the rear break pads. I did the front pads with a breeze but when I looked at the back I had no clue where to start. So if u can share some info with me I would greatly appreciate it. Contact me personally at my email dtjack5@hotmail.com
